Building Maintenance

HART is seeking a Maintenance Attendant – Facilities for skilled repair, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of equipment and structures. You will assist Facility Maintenance Technicians A and B and perform a variety of repairs that help keep HART facilities safe and functional.

• Put your maintenance experience to work supporting the facilities behind public transportation.
• Work on varied assignments involving equipment, plumbing, carpentry and building repairs.
• Contribute alongside facility maintenance technicians to a safe and dependable workplace.

• →Perform preventive maintenance, including lubrication, filter changes, painting and cleaning.
• →Complete minor mechanical repairs and installations, including plumbing, drywall installation and patching, and frame carpentry.
• →Replace belts, sprockets and chains; repair air hoses and irrigation systems; replace doorknobs and glass; and repair fences.
• →Participate in scrap and trash hauling.
• →Clean trench drains, oil separators and storage areas.
• →Assist Facility Maintenance Technicians A and B with repair and troubleshooting work as needed.
• →Perform other related duties as assigned.

• A high school diploma or GED certificate.
• At least two years of experience in a related maintenance field.
• Ability to obtain a Florida Driver’s License within 10 days of hire.
• Familiarity with the tools and equipment used to maintain machinery and structures.
• Working knowledge of job-related occupational hazards, precautions and safety requirements, and how to care for materials such as decals, metal, glass and wood.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, manage multiple tasks and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
• Ability to learn the safe operation of transit vehicles and equipment and perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance.
• Ability to work various shifts, hours and days and meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to work effectively with different personalities and contribute as part of a team.

Use general maintenance tools and equipment. Office technology used in this role includes Word, Excel, email systems, printers, calculators, fax machines, copiers and telephone messaging systems.

• Meet established training and test guidelines.
• Maintain a working home phone number.

• Frequently walk, sit, stand and squat.
• Occasionally lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
• Use hearing, speaking, near and far visual acuity, depth perception and color vision throughout assigned duties. Visual acuity is necessary to perform all duties.
• Work in shop areas with occasional exposure to extreme noise at 85 decibels or higher.
• May be exposed to mechanical hazards, fumes, odors, paints and chemical hazards in shop areas.
• Work in all weather conditions.
