HSE Manager GCB Switzerland 80 - 100% (f/m/d)

As our HSE Manager for the Generator Circuit Breaker (GCB) factory in Switzerland, you will take full ownership of the Health, Safety, and Environment function and play a key role in shaping a safe, compliant, and sustainable workplace across our operations.

In this position, you will lead and develop the local HSE organization, including one direct report, while acting as the trusted advisor to business leadership and operational teams. You will collaborate closely with managers, employees, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure the highest HSE standards, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and contribute to Hitachi Energy's ambition of achieving zero life changing injuries.

• Lead the HSE function for GCB Switzerland and provide leadership, coaching, and development to one direct report
• Ensure strong commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards, management systems, corporate requirements, and legal obligations
• Partner with business leaders and operational teams to integrate HSE into daily decision-making and business processes
• Communicate HSE initiatives, programs, and best practices to ensure a consistent understanding and application across the organization
• Monitor compliance with Swiss regulations, Hitachi Energy policies, and ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements, ensuring timely resolution of non-conformances
• Implement, maintain, and continuously improve the HSE Management System and associated governance processes
• Lead HSE audits, inspections, and assurance activities while ensuring effective follow-up and closure of identified actions
• Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, identify root causes, and drive sustainable corrective and preventive actions
• Support factory operations, engineering projects, facility modifications, and investment initiatives through risk assessments and expert HSE guidance
• Oversee contractor safety management and ensure effective risk controls for external service providers working on site
• Lead HSE Reviews, monitor key performance indicators, and provide management with meaningful performance insights
• Promote employee engagement and foster a proactive safety culture through training, campaigns, leadership involvement, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate with local, regional, and global HSE networks to drive standardization, share best practices, and support strategic HSE programs

• 5+ years of experience in a managerial HSE role within a manufacturing, industrial, engineering, or energy-related environment
• Certified HSE professional according to Swiss legislation
• Strong leadership personality with proven experience in leading teams and influencing stakeholders across all organizational levels
• Sound understanding of occupational health, safety, environmental, and sustainability requirements within industrial operations
• Practical hands-on experience in developing, implementing, and managing HSE management systems and improvement programs
• Strong knowledge of Swiss HSE legislation and international standards such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, audits, and compliance reviews
• Ability to analyze complex risks, identify practical solutions, and drive sustainable improvements
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to engage employees, managers, and external stakeholders
• International experience and intercultural awareness are considered an advantage
• Solution-oriented, proactive, and resilient personality with a strong commitment to operational excellence
• Fluent in English and German, both written and spoken
