DIVE into an exciting opportunity with the Indianapolis Zoo! As a Marine Mammals Visitor Attendant, you'll be one of the friendly faces helping guests enjoy their experience at the Dolphin Pavilion. From welcoming visitors and answering questions to monitoring guest flow and keeping the space clean and inviting, you'll help create a safe, positive, and engaging environment for guests of all ages. Please note: This is NOT an animal care position.


About the Role

Ideal candidates are committed to advancing the Zoo's mission to protect nature and inspire people to care for our world. This part-time regular position consistently works approximately 20-29 hours per week and is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public and thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment. You'll work closely with the Marine Mammal team and help respond to safety, security, visitors, volunteer, and staff needs within the scope of your training and experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Greets guests and handles questions and concerns.
  • Help maintain a clean, welcoming environment through general housekeeping and specialized cleaning as needed.
  • Monitors the flow of guests in and out of the Dolphin Pavilion.
  • Presents professional attitude and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintains regular attendance.
  • Observes and reports maintenance needs to Assistant Curator.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors under all environmental conditions and temperatures.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous customer service or public-facing experience is helpful but not required.
  • Friendly, approachable, and customer-focused attitude.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain professional and positive while interacting with guests.
