In this role, you will contribute to a peer-to-peer messaging and calling application built with React Native and Expo, powered by an on-device peer-to-peer technology stack. You will take ownership of features throughout the development lifecycle, from crafting intuitive user interfaces to integrating core communication capabilities. Working at the intersection of mobile engineering and decentralized technology, you will help deliver seamless chat, voice, video, and media-sharing experiences. You will also optimize performance, strengthen application stability, and ensure a consistent experience across devices and platforms. Develop, maintain, and enhance a peer-to-peer mobile application for iOS and Android using React Native and Expo.
Own mobile features end to end, from UI/UX implementation to integration with peer-to-peer core APIs and underlying application services.
Build and refine functionality for messaging, voice and video calls, media sharing, device pairing, and identity backup.
Integrate native device capabilities across iOS and Android, including push notifications, camera access, biometric authentication, and background processing.
Collaborate with the on-device peer-to-peer core, product, and design teams to deliver reliable, intuitive, and high-quality mobile experiences.
Profile and optimize application performance on real devices, focusing on startup time, extended chat sessions, media processing, battery consumption, and network efficiency.
Write and maintain unit tests and end-to-end tests to improve code reliability and prevent regressions.
Support stable application releases through continuous integration (CI), crash reporting, debugging, and systematic issue resolution.
Participate in code reviews, uphold high engineering standards, and contribute to maintainable, scalable mobile architecture.
Identify opportunities to modernize and optimize mobile application functionality, development workflows, and overall user experience.

Requirements

Significant professional experience developing mobile applications with React Native.
Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including modern ES6+ features and contemporary development practices.
Hands-on experience with Redux for state management and Redux-Saga for managing asynchronous application workflows.
Experience integrating and consuming WebSockets and RESTful APIs.
Understanding of mobile application architecture, cross-platform development, debugging, and performance optimization.
Familiarity with testing practices, application stability, and release workflows for production mobile applications.
Knowledge of native mobile development languages such as Swift or Kotlin is an advantage.
Familiarity with native development tools, including Xcode and Android Studio, is beneficial.
Experience collaborating effectively with distributed or remote teams across different functions and locations.
An interest in modernizing existing mobile or web applications and continuously improving their performance, usability, and maintainability.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate technical issues and deliver practical solutions.
Good communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with engineers, designers, and product stakeholders.
A commitment to code quality, continuous learning, and keeping up with evolving mobile technologies.
Bonus: Experience building applications or contributing to projects using peer-to-peer (P2P) frameworks.
