Field Engineer I

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB DUTIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Working independently from the supervisor, the incumbent must be proficient in multiple maintenance trades (i.e. electrical, mechanical/HVAC, structural, carpentry and/or plumbing assemblies) with high-level skills and knowledge to effectively complete repairs of facilities, machinery, mechanical equipment and other related subsystems. Work is performed in accordance with pertinent guides and regulations of the trade.

• Technical Lead and mentor over a section of maintenance trades specialists and general maintenance workers.
• Schedule work (preventative Maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance (CM), installs & projects) for Site Support shop.
• Prepare, review and update Local Work Cards and Lock Out Tag Out procedures for all systems maintained.
• Supports projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared
• Section Subject Matter Expert for their primary trade (Electrical. Mechanical or HVAC).
• Assists in preparation of reports, correspondence or technical studies.
• Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position requires strong working knowledge of facility maintenance operations, preventive and corrective maintenance practices, asset management, and maintenance management systems. The candidate will provide technical and administrative support to the Facility Maintenance Section and serve as a working lead. Strong leadership, initiative, accountability, sound judgment, communication, and decision-making skills are required.

Duties include performing and coordinating preventive, corrective, routine, critical, and emergency maintenance; assisting with daily and weekly scheduling; assigning and supporting technicians; prioritizing competing work requirements; conducting site job walks; responding to customer inquiries and urgent maintenance needs; and attending meetings on behalf of section leadership when required.

The candidate must comply with Quality Assurance and Safety requirements and complete all required training. The applicant must be able to obtain certification in Personal Fall Arrest Systems (PFAS) Fall Protection, Forklift operations, and Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs), perform work at elevated locations, and complete section master task list requirements within established milestone timelines.

The position supports section logistics and compliance programs, including tool and material accountability, procurement, ladder inspections, PFAS-related safety equipment, GSA fleet requirements, 90-day inventories, and other assigned programs.

Proficiency in MAXIMO is desired, including creating and maintaining assets, linking assets to job plans and preventive maintenance schedules, maintaining accurate maintenance data, generating reports, and exporting information for tracking and analysis. The candidate must be capable of working independently with limited supervision while effectively collaborating with technicians, leadership, customers, and supporting sections.

The candidate must obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance within 180 days and be available to work overtime, weekends, varying shifts, and field assignments as operational requirements dictate.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

An associate’s degree in engineering or formal academic/vocational training, or military equivalent and four (4) or more years of technical/professional experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

In addition, a Field Engineer I must possess the following qualifications:

• Professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles and familiarity with related engineering fields
• Practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform relatively routine engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions
• Must possess a working knowledge of the technical terminology and language structure related to a variety of electrical and mechanical equipment/systems supported by the work unit.
• Must have basic personal computer skills and knowledge of applications software and database usage sufficient to maintain records and file.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Planning/organizational skills
• Must possess a valid, state issued driver’s license
• Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance
• Must be a U.S. citizen

SALARY

The expected salary range for this position is $78,220 to $91,520 annually.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting while using a computer terminal; constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents; constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication; and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
