At Layup Parts, we're developing the technology that will build the future.

We're a manufacturing technology company replacing months of lead time with days, using proprietary software, robotics, and advanced manufacturing systems built for speed. Our customers are inventing what's next, in aerospace, defense, robotics, and beyond. To keep up with them, manufacturing has to change. That's what we're building.

We're looking for an Electrical Engineer to help us build the next generation of manufacturing equipment while owning the electrical systems that keep our production floor running. This is a hands-on, systems-level role working across industrial controls, electrical cabinets, wiring and harnessing, production equipment, and robotic systems.

You'll work closely with our robotics, controls, mechanical, manufacturing, and facilities teams to troubleshoot equipment, improve existing machines, and design electrical systems for new projects. We're looking for someone who wants to work directly with physical systems, not just design at a desk, and is comfortable getting on the production floor to diagnose problems and build solutions

  • Own and maintain electrical systems across production equipment, robotic systems, and other equipment on the factory floor.

  • Troubleshoot electrical and electromechanical issues and drive problems through to resolution.

  • Specify electrical components and hardware for equipment upgrades, new machines, and robotics projects.

  • Design industrial electrical cabinets, control panels, wiring diagrams, and harnesses for new and existing equipment.

  • Work with cabinet and harness vendors to take designs through fabrication, assembly, and implementation.

  • Build, wire, modify, and bring up electrical systems in-house when needed.

  • Partner with robotics and controls engineers on robotics, industrial controls, sensors, actuators, and other factory robotics.

  • Support electrical needs across production and facilities as we expand and bring new equipment online.

  • Help establish standards and best practices for electrical design, documentation, component selection, and maintainability across our factory.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

  • 1+ years of professional experience working with physical electrical or electromechanical systems. Exceptional early-career candidates with significant hands-on project experience will also be considered.

  • Strong hands-on electrical skills and comfort working directly with equipment, wiring, harnesses, sensors, motors, and other hardware.

  • Experience designing, building, troubleshooting, or integrating electrical systems at a system level.

  • Ability to read and create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.

  • Strong engineering fundamentals and the ability to troubleshoot complex problems methodically.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving production environment and collaborating across electrical, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and operations teams.

  • A bias toward getting hands-on and taking ownership from initial problem through working solution.

  • Experience with industrial controls, factory robotics, or robotics systems.

  • Experience designing industrial control cabinets or electrical panels.

  • Experience with mechatronic systems, PLC-controlled equipment, motors, drives, sensors, or industrial communications.

  • Experience designing or building wiring harnesses.

  • Experience working with cabinet, harness, or electrical fabrication vendors.

  • Formula SAE, Baja SAE, robotics teams, or similarly hands-on engineering project experience.

  • Experience supporting manufacturing or production equipment in an industrial environment.

  • Being awesome! Be the kind of person you want to work with!
