LotusWorks is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Commissioning Lead to oversee commissioning activities on mission-critical and data center projects. This role is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of mechanical commissioning, ensuring all systems meet design intent, operational requirements, and client expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical commissioning activities for data center and mission-critical projects
  • Ensure systems meet design intent, operational requirements, and client expectations
  • Develop commissioning plans, procedures, and test scripts
  • Review drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation
  • Identify design risks related to operation, maintenance, and reliability
  • Define system boundaries and turnover packages
  • Coordinate schedules with construction, QA/QC, TAB, controls, and client teams
  • Align commissioning activities with project milestones and energization plans
  • Perform field inspections to verify installation compliance with design documents
  • Identify deficiencies and track corrective actions to closure
  • Verify equipment startup readiness and vendor requirements
  • Review and validate mechanical QA/QC documentation
  • Support punch list development and closeout
  • Coordinate turnover from construction to commissioning
  • Lead commissioning of chilled water systems, cooling towers, AHUs, CRAH/CRAC units, chillers, pumps, heat exchangers, expansion tanks, water treatment systems, HVAC controls, BAS integration, ventilation, pressurization, and containment systems
  • Develop and execute pre-functional checklists (PFCs) and functional performance tests (FPTs)
  • Witness equipment startups and vendor testing
  • Verify alarms, safeties, interlocks, and control sequences
  • Coordinate and validate TAB results
  • Verify system performance under normal, maintenance, and failure conditions
  • Lead integrated systems testing (IST) across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
  • Validate redundancy and concurrent maintainability (N+1, 2N, 2N+1)
  • Coordinate with BAS/BMS teams to validate sequences of operation
  • Verify sensor calibration and control point functionality
  • Review system graphics, alarms, trends, and interfaces
  • Validate integration with BMS/EPMS platforms
  • Support automated response and failover testing
  • Maintain commissioning logs, issue trackers, and deficiency reports
  • Produce daily and weekly commissioning reports
  • Track commissioning progress against schedule
  • Review startup reports, TAB reports, and vendor documentation
  • Compile final commissioning records and turnover packages
  • Support development of systems manuals and O&M documentation
  • Lead mechanical commissioning engineers and agents
  • Coordinate vendors, contractors, TAB firms, and controls teams
  • Facilitate commissioning meetings and testing workshops
  • Drive issue resolution and escalation processes
  • Ensure safe and efficient execution of commissioning activities
  • Serve as primary mechanical commissioning point of contact
  • Present commissioning status, risks, and recovery plans to stakeholders
  • Support client witness testing and acceptance activities
  • Coordinate operator training and turnover to facility operations teams
  • Ensure compliance with LOTO, safety, and energization procedures
  • Participate in job hazard analysis (JHA) and pre-task planning (PTP)
  • Promote safe work practices during testing and startup activities
  • Deliver commissioning plan, system turnover matrix, PFCs, FPTs, IST scripts, deficiency logs, progress reports, TAB reviews, startup verification reports, final commissioning report, systems manual, and owner turnover package
  • Achieve first-pass system acceptance and high deficiency closure rate
  • Maintain schedule adherence and successful IST execution
  • Ensure zero safety incidents during commissioning activities
  • Support successful client acceptance and turnover
  • Deliver reliable system performance aligned with design intent
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience commissioning mechanical systems in data center or mission-critical environments
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and critical cooling systems
  • Experience leading commissioning activities and cross-functional coordination
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Preferred experience with large-scale data center projects
  • Familiarity with BAS/BMS systems and integrated systems testing
  • Knowledge of commissioning best practices and standards
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. 

  • 3+ years commissioning mechanical systems in data center or mission-critical environments
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC and cooling systems
  • Experience leading commissioning activities
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable
