We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Operations Specialist Intern to support Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities within a semiconductor manufacturing facility. This internship provides hands-on experience in mission-critical facility operations, maintenance planning, performance reporting, continuous improvement, and operational coordination.

The Operations Specialist Intern will work closely with the Regional O&M Manager, Site Managers, O&M Leads, engineers, technicians, and other support functions. This individual will assist with tracking operational priorities, analyzing performance data, supporting CMMS activities, maintaining documentation, and identifying opportunities to improve operational consistency, efficiency, and reliability.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone earlier in their professional career who is interested in operations, engineering, facilities management, maintenance, data analysis, or project coordination within the semiconductor industry.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Regional O&M Manager with day-to-day coordination of O&M activities across multiple semiconductor facilities.
  • Assist with tracking regional priorities, deliverables, action items, and operational commitments.
  • Coordinate with Site Managers, O&M Leads, engineers, technicians, and support functions to gather operational information.
  • Maintain regional action trackers and follow up with responsible owners on open items.
  • Support preparation for regional operations reviews, customer meetings, and internal leadership meetings.
  • Collect and consolidate site-level O&M performance data into regional reporting.
  • Track KPIs such as PM compliance, CM backlog, overdue work orders, equipment availability, MTBF, response time, safety performance, and resource utilization.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards, Excel trackers, and operational scorecards.
  • Identify trends, gaps, and recurring performance issues and escalate findings to the Regional O&M Manager.
  • Support weekly and monthly regional performance reports.
  • Assist with reviewing Maximo/CMMS data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Track open, overdue, and aging PM/CM work orders.
  • Support work-order data cleanup and reporting.
  • Assist with asset hierarchy, job plan, PM frequency, and maintenance history reviews.
  • Work with site teams to improve CMMS data quality and reporting consistency.
  • Assist with manpower and resource-utilization tracking across regional sites.
  • Support PTO, coverage, overtime, and staffing analysis where required.
  • Maintain regional schedules for major PMs, shutdowns, equipment maintenance, vendor activities, and operational milestones.
  • Help identify upcoming resource constraints and conflicts.
  • Support development of regional look-ahead reports.
  • Support identification and tracking of continuous-improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze maintenance and operational data to identify recurring failures, inefficiencies, or excessive maintenance effort.
  • Assist with tracking cost-saving and efficiency initiatives.
  • Support standardization of processes, reporting, job plans, and operating procedures across sites.
  • Maintain a regional lessons-learned and best-practice repository.
  • Maintain regional O&M documentation, trackers, meeting minutes, procedures, and performance records.
  • Support development and revision of SOPs, MOPs, EOPs, job plans, checklists, and operational procedures.
  • Assist with document-control activities and ensure current revisions are available to site teams.
  • Track training, qualification, and competency requirements where applicable.
  • Support preparation of customer presentations and management reports.
  • Develop an understanding of critical semiconductor facility systems including electrical distribution, HVAC, chilled water, process cooling water, UPW, wastewater, process vacuum, compressed air, gas/chemical, controls, and life-safety systems.
  • Participate in site walks, operational reviews, maintenance planning meetings, and equipment reliability discussions.
  • Gain exposure to the relationship between facilities reliability and semiconductor manufacturing uptime.
  • Follow all site requirements relating to EHS, LOTO/COHE, cleanroom protocols, and operational controls.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience supporting facilities or project coordination on construction projects required
  • Strong interest in semiconductor manufacturing, facilities operations, maintenance, engineering, or mission-critical environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to organize and interpret data.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with Maximo is strongly preferred
  • High School Diploma is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Project Management or Engineering discipline is advantageous, but not required.
  • Equivalent field experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
  • Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable
