Senior Professional Structural Engineer Cape Town

Lukhozi Consulting Engineers is recruiting a Senior Professional Structural Engineer or Technologist for its office in Cape Town. The salary will be market related and dependant on the applicant’s qualifications and experience. Applicants must submit their CV’s with adequate information that shows their experience relating to the specific Responsibilities, Qualifications and Experience listed below: · • Planning, design and contract administration of engineering and building projects from inception to completion. • Prepare engineering calculations. • Prepare project and technical specifications. • Must be able to work independently as well as leading an internal project team of designers and draughtspersons. • Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates. • Assist with managing and quality checking deliverables. • Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior and intermediate engineers and play an active role in the continuing professional development of unregistered technical staff. • Preparation of tender documents. • Preparation of reports (Project Inception, Concept and Viability, Design, tender evaluation, progress, financial, close-out, etc). • Carry out structural condition assessments and report writing. • Day-to day contract administration and management of the structural works of building and engineering projects. • Handling of technical queries and resolutions and leading Site and Technical Meetings on site, including the taking of minutes. • Communicate frequently with all professionals and clients. • Handling of technical queries and dispute resolutions in conjunction with others. • Assist with project safety and environmental matters during construction. • General office and project related admin. • Management of resources within the structural department. • Planning and scheduling workload against the available resources. • Reviewing and approving work developed by resources. • Mentoring candidate engineers and technologists. • Business development for the Structural Department Requirements · At least a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with emphasis on structural engineering. · Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer or Professional Engineering Technologist. · At least 10 years’ verifiable post-registration experience in the planning, design and contract administration of building and engineering projects from inception to completion. · A strong background in the design of bulk water reservoirs, water treatment works, stormwater management infrastructure, water retaining structures, reinforced concrete framed structures and steel framed structures will be advantageous. · Experience with managing design teams, to complete tasks and produce high quality deliverables such as design calculations, drawings, schedules, and reports on time and within budget. · Strong understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards. · Proficient in the use of Master Series or Prokon, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project. · Experience in the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, in particular ACC Docs and ACC Build, Revit and AutoCAD, will be advantageous. · Must have a strong client focus. · Must take ownership of projects. · Must be an effective communicator (personal, phone, writing, email; etc); · Own Vehicle · Valid Driver’s Licence Benefits · Market related salary · Group Life Insurance · Group Provident Fund · Medical Aid Scheme
