Safety & Workers’ Compensation Specialist

At Magnolia, the Safety & Workers’ Compensation Specialist supports workplace safety and workers’ compensation programs by managing incident reporting, claim administration, OSHA compliance, and safety training initiatives. This position collaborates with operational leaders to reduce risk, support injured employees, and promote a safe work environment. The Safety & Workers’ Compensation Specialist manages day‑to‑day safety and workers’ compensation operations while maintaining accurate documentation and compliance. This position works from Magnolia Headquarters in Waco, Texas. It reports to the Employee Relations and Risk Compliance Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
~2 min read- →Conduct workplace safety programs, inspections, audits, and hazard assessments
- →Coordinate or deliver required safety training, maintaining accurate training records for completion, expiration, recertification as needed*
- →Ensure compliance with OSHA, state safety laws, and organizational standards
- →Plan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal law including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations*
- →Maintain SDS (Safety Data Sheet) library, signage, safety equipment, and documentation
- →Maintain OSHA logs (300, 301, 300A) and ensure timely reporting and postings
- →Develop and coordinate safety training, communications, policies, procedures and programs
- →Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with hazardous communication standards and hazardous materials disposal procedures
- →Serve as first point of contact for workplace injury reporting
- →Initiate and manage workers’ compensation claims
- →Assist in safety and workers compensation incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions*
- →Coordinate and communicate in a timely manner with worker’s compensation carriers, medical providers, and employees
- →Track claim progress, return‑to‑work status, and restricted duty arrangements for workers’ compensation
- →Maintain worker’s compensation files, incident investigations, and safety records
- →Analyze injury and claim trends and recommend preventive actions, proactive actions, and cost containment measures*
- →Facilitate and coordinate safety committees, ergonomics initiatives, and risk reduction projects
- →Designate safety committee members across the organization and conduct ongoing committee meetings*
- →Partner with HR, Facilities, Operations, and Legal on safety and injury management.
- →Perform other duties as assigned

- Hard skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required. Proficiency in HRIS systems preferred.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field from a 4-year college or university preferred
- 2-4 years of related work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Possess a current OSHA certification preferred
- Experience with OSHA compliance and workplace safety programs preferred
- Must be available to work weekends, nights, special events, and holidays as business needs require

The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
