Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this full-time Project Engineer/Architect III position will be to provide project management and project development services for MDH projects including agency capital,\r\nfacility renewal, and agency operating construction and maintenance service projects. This\r\nposition with the MDH Office of Facilities Management and Development (OFMD) is responsible for\r\nproject development, site inspections, and management of agency projects; and serves as a\r\nliaison to the Department of General Services for renovation and construction projects. Projects may include new construction, demolition, renovation, and maintenance of facilities. Additional project responsibilities may include oversight and management of energy performance projects, building condition and facility assessment surveys, and public works infrastructure systems.\r\n\r\n\r\nThe selected employee will perform mission critical functions to support MDH in responding to emergency events at MDH facilities and on behalf of the State.\r\n\r\n\r\nThis position will also provide MDH and OFMD with expertise and assistance in the preparation of project programming and development of scopes of work for use in contracting AE services.\r\nAdditional responsibilities may include cost estimating/budgeting, and the development of\r\ncapital improvement program statements for multi-year large scale capital construction projects.\r\n\r\n\r\nThis position will assist in fulfilling legal requirements for Plans Review of construction\r\ndocuments for hospitals, comprehensive care, assisted living, adult medical day care, ambulatory care, and various other related facilities. The position will also provide maintenance engineering and architectural design, and construction project management for numerous ongoing projects at MDH health care facilities located throughout the State.\r\n\r\n\r\nIn addition, this position will provide MDH and the OFMD with engineering and architectural design expertise, and preparation of scopes of work and contract documents for building and\r\ninfrastructure projects. This position will also provide bidding, contract negotiation, and\r\ncontract administration services for MDH.\r\n\r\n\r\nPlease Note: This position is hybrid telework eligible.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: Six years of experience, two years of experience as a design and project manager Engineer, Architect, or Surveyor for agency capital and operating construction, maintenance and system services projects and an additional four years of experience as an Engineer, Architect, or Surveyor in the building construction field involving the design, construction or repair of building structures or system services.\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture and two years of experience as a design and project manager Engineer or Architect for agency capital and operating construction, maintenance and system services projects for the required experience.\r\n2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Professional Engineer or Professional Architect registration in the State of Maryland or in a state with comparable requirements for the required experience.\r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service� experience as a commissioned officer in Engineering and Architecture classifications or Engineering and Architecture specialty codes in the Architecture field of work on a year-for- year basis for the required education.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess experience providing expertise and assistance in preparing project scopes of work and administering facility infrastructure projects, including new construction, demolition, renovation, maintenance, energy performance or other project types that may affect facility operations or budgeting.\r\n

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n
