Main Purpose of Job

We\r\nare seeking passionate individuals for the role of the Intake Case Management Specialist Supervisor, so come join our team\r\nand make a meaningful impact on youth and the community at DJS!\r\n\r\n\r\nThe main purpose of this position is to\r\nplan and direct the implementation and coordination of the delivery of intake\r\ncase management services for juveniles within an assigned county or geographic\r\nregion. This position also directly supervises Case Management Specialists.\r\n\r\n\r\nSome key responsibilities of this\r\nposition may include, but are not limited to, the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n Planning and directing the implementation and coordination of intake case\r\n management services\r\n Supervising Case Management Specialists, including assigning work and monitoring\r\n performance\r\n Meeting with representatives from the State’s Attorney’s Office, Public\r\n Defender’s Office, courts, law enforcement, and public and private agencies to\r\n obtain or clarify information and coordinate services\r\n Communicating with youth, families, and partners to explain procedures and\r\n expectations and address questions related to case reports and recommendations\r\n Discussing staff recommendations and court presentations with relevant parties\r\n Resolving concerns and complaints and negotiates alternative placements as\r\n appropriate\r\n\r\n\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

\r\nEducation: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience: Three (3) years of experience providing case management services to emotionally or socially maladjusted, delinquent, victimized or exceptional juveniles in a community or residential setting.\r\n\r\n\r\nNotes:\r\n1. Candidates may substitute possession of an Associate of Arts degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of experience providing direct services to children in a community or residential setting for the required education.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Candidates may substitute possession of a Master’s degree in the social or behavioral sciences or criminal justice from an accredited college or university for one (1) year of the required experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Social Services classifications or Social Services specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.\r\n\r\n\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

\r\n\r\nThe preferred candidate for this position may\r\npossess any of the following qualifications:\r\n\r\n\r\n Bachelor's degree in a\r\n Social or Behavioral Science major (such as Criminal Justice, Sociology,\r\n Human Relations, Psychology, Child and Adolescent Studies or Social Work,\r\n or other closely related field)\r\n At least one (1) year of\r\n supervisory experience in providing direct services to children in a\r\n community or residential setting\r\n At least one (1) year of experience\r\n supervising lower-level Case Management Specialists in a community or\r\n residential setting\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

\r\n1. Employees appointed to positions in this classification are required to become fully certified by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission within 90 days of appointment and maintain certification while employed.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n\r\n\r\n3. Employees in this classification that are employed at DJS Youth Centers may be required to complete a Board approved medication technician training program and possess a valid Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) certification as a Medication Technician.\r\n\r\n\r\n

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

\r\n1. In accordance with the Correctional Services Article, Section 8-209�of the�Annotated Code of Maryland,�the Maryland Correctional Training Commission shall establish the minimum qualifications for probationary or permanent appointment of a Department of Juvenile Services employee in a mandated position. These requirements are listed in detail in the Code of Maryland Regulations 12.10.01.04, general regulations of the Maryland Correctional Training Commission, and include:\r\nU.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status\r\nMust be at least 21 years of age\r\nA thorough background check, including fingerprinting and drug testing\r\nAn oral interview, and\r\nPhysical and psychological examinations.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
