Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of the Managed Care Coordinator is to provide documentation for the\r\nAdministrative Service Organization (ASO) and act as a direct liaison with the ASO. The\r\nManaged Care Coordinator will also provide documentation for private insurance companies and\r\nact as a liaison with those companies, the clinical staff, and the financial agent.\r\nThis position requires someone who demonstrates specific expertise in understanding the\r\nsymptoms and treatments for clients with diagnoses, which are typically seen in emotionally\r\ndisabled adolescents. This position requires someone who can work effectively with a treatment\r\nteam made up of nursing/residential, educational and rehabilitation staff as well as social\r\nworkers, psychologists and psychiatrists to provide treatment that is family driven & youth\r\nguided. The incumbent of this position must also be able to generate the extensive\r\ndocumentation such as treatment plans, progress notes and reports required in a contemporary\r\nmental health context.\r\n

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

\r\nEducation:�� Determined by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.\r\n\r\n\r\nExperience:�Two years of experience rendering clinical social work services in a health care or treatment setting subsequent to the receipt of an approved Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university.\r\n\r\n\r\nNote: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service�experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a�commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social�Work specialty codes in the Social Science, Psychology, and Welfare field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required�experience.\r\n\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\n

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

School Social Workers must possess three semester hours of special education coursework and possess a certificate from the Maryland Board of Education in School Social Work as per COMAR 13A.12.04.11.\r\n

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The desired candidate should possess the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n Experience working with children and adolescents in a psychiatric or behavioral health setting.\r\n Experience coordinating with insurance companies, managed care organizations, or Administrative Service Organizations (ASOs) regarding behavioral health services and documentation requirements.\r\n\r\n\r\n

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates must be licensed as a Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker, Clinical by the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners prior to appointment to a position in State service. Applicants who do not have a license may also apply pending receipt of the required license. When the license is obtained, submit a copy to the Maryland Department of Health�Testing Unit.\r\n\r\n\r\n2. Candidates appointed to positions in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess an appropriate operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.\r\n\r\n
