A Day In the Life as an IT Operations Analyst

This position plays a key role in supporting and enhancing the Credit Union's core banking ecosystem. Working closely with the IT Operations Administrator, you will help develop automation solutions, improve business processes, support system integrations, and maximize the capabilities of our Symitar Episys core processing system.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, learning new technologies, and finding better ways to accomplish work through systems and automation. While you will provide operational and technical support when needed, a significant portion of the role is focused on developing and implementing solutions that improve efficiency, reduce manual processes, and support the Credit Union's strategic objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, modifying, testing, troubleshooting, and implementing PowerOn programs, scripts, forms, batch jobs, and automated workflows.
  • Partnering with departments throughout the organization to identify opportunities for process improvements and technology-driven solutions.
  • Gathering business requirements and translating them into technical specifications.
  • Supporting system upgrades, implementations, integrations, and third-party vendor projects.
  • Monitoring daily and nightly processing, file transfers, and scheduled jobs to ensure successful completion.
  • Assisting with information security practices, user access administration, and technology-related controls.
  • Providing technical support for hardware, software, applications, and connectivity issues as needed.
  • Maintaining documentation, procedures, and project records to support operational stability and knowledge sharing.

What Are We Looking For?

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience: Two to five years of related experience in information technology, systems administration, automation, programming, business systems analysis, financial institution technology, or a similar field preferred.

Education: (1) Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field; or (2) completion of specialized certifications, technical training programs, or equivalent practical experience.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Interest or experience in programming, scripting, workflow automation, or systems development.
  • Ability to learn and support the Symitar Episys core banking platform and related applications.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Experience working with spreadsheets, databases, and technology systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines.
  • Experience with SQL, APIs, PowerOn, programming languages, or automation tools is preferred but not required.
  • A desire to continuously learn, improve processes, and build technical expertise.

How is the Work Schedule?

The IT Operations Analyst position is a full-time role, typically working 40 hours weekly. Occasional after-hours support may be required to support system maintenance, nightly processing, implementations, or issue resolution.
