This team develops RF modems, integrated circuits, and other related circuit modules and subsystems for use in our radio products. We need an innovative and motivated radio device system engineer. As a member of our team you will have opportunities to work on a variety of circuits and system designs. This position is 100% on site Monday thru Friday located in Plantation FL.
  • The Radio Device RF System Engineer will work with commercial off-the-shelf ICs, RF components as well as custom CMOS technologies to develop radio transceiver mixed signal sub-systems to be utilized in hi-reliability public safety communications equipment. This position will be one of a team of advanced technologists that will conceive, design and implement radio systems with off-the-shelf semiconductor devices as well as custom mixed signal digital, RF and analog circuits and subsystems using robust design methodologies for deployment in two way radio equipment. The completed transceiver systems are intended for use in Motorola Solutions radio products.
  • The following are activities related to this job and require prior experience:
    • System Architecture & Definition: Translate product-level radio requirements into comprehensive microarchitectural specifications for mixed-signal circuits with focus on RF systems for PLLs, fractional multi-loop synthesizers, baseband and RF amplifiers/filters, AGC sub systems,  digital state machines for RF control sub-systems. Must be able to communicate and work with radio product development hardware and software architects to achieve product level requirements.
    • System Level Modeling: Develop behavioral system models to accurately determine and manage block level specs for a radio modem lineup with focus on the RF side of the system. Arbitrate block level spec adjustments throughout the design process to accomplish the overall system performance goals on finished silicon and complete radio product implementation.
    • IP Evaluation & Integration: Collaborate with internal and external IP providers to integrate RF IP blocks into a SoC.
    • Power & Performance Optimization: Develop power-modeling and thermal management strategies across multiple operating modes and low-power states of RF, digital and analog mixed signal systems.
    • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with digital design, analog layout, firmware/software, verification, radio product teams, and test engineering teams from specification of circuits and systems, discrete to custom silicon tape-out, bring-up and ultimately deployment into radio products.
    • Technical Expertise:
      • Proven radio modem subsystem development from concept to shipping product.
      • Background in RF & mixed-signal IC and PCB design.
      • Knowledge of multi-loop feedback control systems and modeling such systems.
      • Familiar with digital signal processing as applied to modulation and demodulation of signals in a faded radio channel environment.
      • Solid experience in analog/mixed-signal circuit block and system modeling, design and verification using Cadence or equivalent CAD tools.
      • Experience in assessing 3rd party IP and COTS ICs for modem development.
