Job Summary:
Support Optics PFA manufacturing and engineering in design, build, testing, order fulfillment and process improvement of optical components and hardware assemblies. The work includes creating custom assemblies for specific customers, which includes drawings, glass part cutting, inspection, optical performance measurement, sub-assembly (if necessary), packaging, and shipping. This position is the lead engineering resource for these customers.
Essential Functions:
- Support Post Fab production with day-to-day manufacturing, troubleshooting and sustaining needs, responding to operator calls promptly.
- Track critical orders through all operations.
- Ensure that Post Fab production understands customer requirements for standard and non-standard orders.
- Interpret and evaluate customer drawings and specifications relative to internal product specifications to determine whether customer needs are feasible.
- Work closely with Sales and product management to design, develop, and optimize new assemblies for key customers.
- Maintain instruction sets for non-standard orders including custom substrates and AR coatings, optical performance measurements, data formatting and sending, packaging, and shipping requirements, etc.
- Seek out, evaluate, and implement improvements to Post Fab workflow and product quality, especially as it relates to new equipment and processes.
- Write and maintain Post Fab operating procedures and related documents.
- Perform failure analysis on returned material and complete corrective action plans.
- Design, carry out, and document experiments per Moxtek standards.
- Development and testing of new assemblies.
- Design and evaluate packaging options.
- Write clear and informative status pass downs.
- Maintain a safe working environment.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum B.S. degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, optics, physics, or related.
- At least three years work experience in the manufacturing industry, such as electronic / electrical, mechanical, optical, automation / controls, computer, etc. Semiconductor manufacturing experience preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude for hardware assembly required.
- Knowledge of optics is a plus, especially relating to polarization, spectrometry, and wave front distortion.

- Demonstrated mastery of written and verbal communication along with interpersonal skills, ability to read/write/speak English.
- Computer proficiencies, with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); preferably automation software experience.
- Experience with 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
- Self-motivated, with strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, strong project management and organizational skills.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- This role requires on-site presence, not a remote position.
