Reporting to the Director of True Blue TV Event Productions, the Assistant Director, Operations Management serves as the point person for managing the inventory and maintenance of approximately $3,000,000 in university-owned gear related to event productions. In addition, they supervise staff at the Event Productions warehouse and storage facilities, as well as at the repair shop located in the James Union Building. The Assistant Director – Operations Management serves as Senior Project Manager for event planning and design through the final execution of the project. They also serve as the Senior Audio Technician on all major events, lead audio department operations, including system design, quality control, show execution standards, and support live and broadcast events across the university campus by ensuring production quality, technical consistency, and the smooth execution of audio. Additional responsibilities specific to the Assistant Director, Operations Management include but are not limited to the following: (1) oversee warehouse operations as needed by ensuring proper inventory management, gear prep, and load-in/load-out processes; (2) organize and manage all equipment transportation to event locations; (3) supervise and prioritize gear repairs and maintenance, including repairs that are handled internally by our inhouse shop or externally by manufacturers, integrators, and other external repair facilities; (4) track gear repair and maintenance status, identifying underutilized or obsolete gear and arrange for resale or disposal of those items; and (5) establish and maintain technical standards for the equipment and assets owned and operated by Event Productions.
A group of responsibilities is shared and coordinated with the Assistant Director, Operations Management, with each assistant director serving as backup for the other when needed. Those additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: (1) provide project management duties for events assigned by the Director of True blue TV Event Productions including the design, management, and execution of event functions; (2) development of equipment lists, diagrams, and equipment allocation to execute the functions properly; (3) identification and recruitment of appropriate crew members that are properly trained for the specific events; (4) ensure that audio/lighting/video/streaming/graphic equipment are properly programmed, and (5) ensure proper event work site safety procedures are followed by all True Blue TV Event Productions staff in accordance with established University policy, OSHA Laws and Regulations and Tennessee State law, including the safeguard of power distribution systems.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in audio production or a related field.
Three (3) years’ experience in a production related field.
Prefer candidates to have experience working with college students or university programs.
Tennessee Commercial Driver’s License; DANTE Networking Certification; Certified Technology Specialist (CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D); Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) certifications; OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry (Entertainment Focus)
