Museum of Illusions is the world's largest and fastest-growing museum chain with 70 locations in 28 countries, and big plans for further expansion. Our original concept was launched in 2015 and quickly became a recognizable global brand and leading attraction in each city where it was launched.

At the Museum of Illusions, we understand the power of play, exploration and creativity. We are curious and open to people thinking outside the box. And one thing is for sure – MOI offers you the opportunity to enjoy flexible work hours, travel globally, and explore different concepts.

As we are rapidly growing, we invite you to join us in our mission to bring interactive, immersive, fun experiences to everyone who is eager to have their mind blown.

The Technical Architect is a highly creative, talented and core-team member of the Research & Development department within the Museum of Illusions. As a Technical Architect, you will be creating immersive exhibits and experiences that combine education and entertainment for Museum interior spaces worldwide. Your role involves translating exhibit design into precise, buildable technical documentation and collaborating across departments – engaging with product designers, technical developers and production, to develop innovative solutions that meet the requirements.

A core-part of this role is action as the technical bridge between design and execution: producing drawings and documentation clear and complete enough that architects, engineer, contractors and fabricators – often working in different countries and unfamiliar with original design conversation – can build the exhibit exactly as intended, without ambiguity or repeated clarification.

Responsibilities

~2 min read
  • Working understanding of the Museum of Illusions design strategy for interiors and exhibit development
  • Support the exhibit design team in conceptualizing exhibits with technical expertise
  • Translating design intent into fully resolved technical documentation — general arrangement drawings, plans, sections, elevations, and construction details — that preserve the design's intent through fabrication and installation
  • Producing construction detailing at a level of precision that leaves no critical dimension, material, tolerance, or connection open to interpretation
  • Producing deliverables that are structured to be read and executed independently by local architects, contractors and builders who were not part of the original design process
  • Writing clear specifications and callouts that communicate intent as well as instructions
  • Understanding, translating and adapting exhibit requirements to different construction standards (EU – US – UK – Global), including local code, dimensioning, and documentation conventions
  • Reviewing and redlining drawings produced for technical accuracy and fidelity to design intent before they are approved for construction
  • Coordinating design details with external consultants — local architects, engineers, contractors, fabricators, and graphic designers — resolving discrepancies and answering technical queries (RFIs) to keep documentation and on-site execution aligned with the original design
  • Recurring coordination with Architecture and Project Management departments to improve documentation practices on an ongoing basis, applying lessons learned
  • Maintaining consistency and accuracy standards throughout all deliverables
  • Basic understanding of project phases, exhibit installation schedules and construction timelines
  • Closely collaborating across company departments to meet design-driven solutions
  • Actively contributing to and implementing processes across the department
  • Engagement in day-to-day tasks
  • Maintaining adherence to the department's processes, tools, file/folder structure and templates
  • Creating department-level standards for technical documentation — drawing templates, detail libraries, specification books, file protocols, and QA checklists — to raise consistency and clarity across all exhibit documentation
  • Researching and compiling detailing assets
  • Working understanding of visualization and documentation standards and practices
  • Communicating across the Museum of Illusions network, coordinating projects as required and reporting directly to the manager
  • Bachelor's and/or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • 4+ years of working experience in relevant positions in the architecture and interior design offices, with demonstrable experience producing construction documentation that was built from directly (not just design-phase work)
  • A strong portfolio showing construction detailing, technical drawing sets, and documentation clarity is required
  • Proficient delivering technical documentation for construction and presentation, with an ability to write and draw for an audience that may not share the same design context
  • Excels at construction detailing and crafting details for spatial execution
  • Highly adaptable to different construction market standards
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines/targets
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D modeling programs, and Adobe CC package is mandatory
  • Comfortable across 3D and rendering software
  • Autodesk Fusion and REVIT/BIM knowledge is preferred
  • Excellent English comprehension and communication – C1 level or above required
  • Independent and proactive
  • Creatively driven
  • Proactive in receiving feedback
  • Curious about spatial design and branding
  • Excelling in oral and written communication skills
  • Solution seeker and problem solver
  • Team player
  • Excellent with time management and prioritizing skills
  • Always looking to improve professional skills
  • Full-time salaried position with a bonus structure
  • Supplementary and additional health insurance
  • A young, vibrant and ambitious team to work with
  • A fun, exciting and industry-leading concept to manage and develop in Zagreb
  • Reimbursement of travel expenses and provision of the warm meal
