JOB TITLE:                Maintenance Technician

DEPARTMENT:            Maintenance

REPORT TO:               Engineering Section Manager

WAGE CATEGORY:       Hourly, non-exempt

Summary

Reporting to Production Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible to provide mechanical and technical troubleshooting expertise to conduct repair and preventive maintenance of production equipment to ensure the continuation of production and the reduction of unscheduled downtime.

Functions and Essential Duties

General Maintenance

•Perform maintenance repairs and modifications as needed on production equipment

•Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment in a timely manner

•Assist with equipment changeovers as needed to support production and quality standards

•Assist with special projects such as equipment moves, work cell set up and equipment installation

•Track, monitor and conduct (predictive) maintenance (schedule) on various equipment

•Perform facility maintenance which could include electrical, plumbing, replacement of lighting fixtures, fabrication of metals, etc.

•Collect and discard old machine parts, clean work area after performing maintenance on equipment

Quality

•Follow quality procedures and work instructions relative to maintenance

•Suggest and implement continuous improvements in support of company goals and machine optimization

•Practice housekeeping requirements in support of 5S effort

•Authority to stop production if necessary to correct a quality issue

•Work with operators to ensure equipment is functioning at maximum efficiency 

Administrative

•Accurately complete all required paperwork including work orders, submit on timely basis

•May train operators on small troubleshooting issues

•Additional responsibilities and assignments as directed by management.

Education and Required Experience

•High School Diploma or GED, continued education in related field preferred

•Five years of proven hands on maintenance experience Skills

•Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills

•Basic blue print reading

•Position requires a basic command of the English language

•Computer skills (Outlook, Excel and Word)

•Proven machine installation and testing skills

•Skilled in PLC’s and robotics

•Some machining and welding skills preferred

•Some electrical skills preferred

•Strong multi-task and organizational skills Physical Requirements

•Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted

•Must be able to stand, bend, reach and stoop

•Must be able to ascend and descend a ladder unassisted

•Must be able to understand and following written and verbal instructions

•Must be flexible to work call in as needed for emergencies or other

Safety

•Adhere to and follow company’s safety policies and procedures

•Immediately report any unsafe working conditions or other safety related issues

•Wear PPE as required

•Practice LO/TO at all times

•Use machine guarding at all times

•Adhere to and follow company’s ISO14001 policy as it relates to environmental impact
