Responsibilities

→Develop an annual budget and work to meet or exceed annual goals for various key performance indicators such as net service revenue, operating income, staff utilization, net labor multiplier, and revenue factor.
→Recruit, develop, and retain staff, including conducting annual performance reviews.
→Manage staff workload, project assignments, and backlog.
→Maintain laboratory accreditations and quality standards.
→Prepare proposals for geotechnical engineering, construction inspection, and material testing.
→Oversee staff performing geotechnical field explorations and laboratory testing programs.
→Oversee staff performing inspection and testing during construction.
→Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
→Represent the company at local and national conferences to strengthen relationships and expand the client portfolio.
→Collaborate with other groups across the company to pursue and deliver multidisciplinary projects.
→Draft and review geotechnical reports.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline preferably civil, geotechnical, or structural engineering.
Eight or more years of relevant professional experience.
Professional Engineer license in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain one within six months of the start date.
Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and profitability.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, contractors, owners, and regulatory agencies.
Ability to develop budgets and geotechnical scopes of work.
Ability to develop comprehensive calculation packages suitable for review by regulatory agencies.
Familiarity with various building codes (i.e. IBC) and test standards (such as ASTM/AASHTO/PTM).
Working knowledge of geotechnical analyses and calculations including soil and rock classification, settlement analysis, and bearing-capacity analysis.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical staff.
Proven success developing client relationships and securing new work.
