ROLE

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to own and continuously improve Propel's software delivery lifecycle—from build and deployment through production releases, application health, observability, and L2 production support.
This is not a traditional infrastructure-focused DevOps role. The engineer will work closely with the development team and be an integral part of the engineering delivery process.
The role combines DevOps engineering, CI/CD automation, application observability, release management, security guardrails, and AI-assisted engineering.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving operational problems, building automation and engineering tools, improving delivery workflows, and understanding how applications behave in production.

IMPORTANT NOTE: This is an in-office position located in Trivandrum, requiring attendance 4+ days per week. By submitting your application, you confirm that you are either presently located in Trivandrum or prepared to relocate. Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.

Own and optimize end-to-end CI/CD pipelines, builds, and deployments across application packages and services.

Develop automation scripts and internal engineering tools to reduce manual dependencies for developers.

Leverage modern AI-assisted engineering tools for troubleshooting, automation, scripting, and operational efficiency.

Monitor application health, availability, and performance across production services.

Establish robust observability (logs, metrics, alerts, health checks) to detect and resolve production issues early.

Plan, coordinate, and execute scheduled production releases, patch releases, and Heroku deployments.

Manage release risks, post-release validation, rollback/recovery procedures, and participate in release support.

Integrate automated security scanning and vulnerability detection within delivery pipelines.

Apply OWASP standards and establish security guardrails to ensure safe, compliant software releases.

8–10 years of DevOps, CI/CD, and software delivery experience in AWS cloud environments.

Strong background in build, deployment, release automation, and production application support.

Proven troubleshooting skills with the ability to debug backend code and resolve complex technical issues.

Expertise in application logging, monitoring, and observability.

Proficiency in CI/CD pipeline security, vulnerability scanning, and applying OWASP standards.

Strong scripting and automation capabilities to build tooling, workflows, and process improvements.

Familiarity with Git workflows and modern AI-assisted engineering tools.

Hands-on experience with OAuth 2.0 or modern authentication/authorization mechanisms.

Strong ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills.

Nice to Have

Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/EKS), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

Strong background in application observability, performance monitoring, backend engineering (Python, Java, Node.js), and database troubleshooting.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum practices, release management, AWS certification, and building/deploying AI-assisted workflows.
