• →Criminal and educational background check
• →Must use personal (non-agency) vehicle for transportation 
• →If driving frequently for VOA-TX business:
  • →MVR background check (good driving record)
  • →Valid Texas driver’s license
  • →Proof of Insurance

• Knowledge of basic computer functions.
• Strong communication skills necessary for interacting with residents.
• Mechanical aptitude for operating hand and power tools.
• Strong interpersonal skills necessary for working with fellow staff and other housing staff.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety issues with residential structures, vehicle operations, power tool operations.
• Ability to effectively direct and supervise 
• Ability to work the after-hours emergency shifts.
• Ability to handle difficult situations in a courteous and professional manner.
• Ability and knowledge to work with strong industrial cleaners, pesticides, and disinfectants.
• Ability to assess daily workloads and materials necessary to complete the daily tasks.
• Ability to organize shop on a daily basis with tools and materials necessary to complete these tasks.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain detailed records.
• Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions.
• Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
A high school diploma or equivalent plus one year of relevant experience working in the maintenance field OR a high school diploma or equivalent plus a certificate from a maintenance trade/vocational school OR equivalent years of relevant work experience. HVAC certification required

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Texas Drivers’ License, clear MVR and ability to be insured.
