EngineeringEngineering Manager

At Ro, we believe that when people achieve their health goals, they can achieve their life goals. The highest-leverage way to move society forward is to give people their health, and the current healthcare system isn’t built to do that. It was built to bill, not to serve patients.

We’re building a new system. One where the patient is in control. One designed from scratch for the digital age.

At Ro, technology isn’t just a function… It's core to how we deliver care. We’ve built a vertically integrated healthcare platform that connects telehealth, diagnostics, pharmacy, and logistics into a seamless, end-to-end experience for millions of patients.

…and we’re just getting started.

As part of Tech @ Ro, you’ll work on systems that operate at scale, with an opportunity to:

  • Solve complex, high-concurrency problems across a full-stack platform
  • Build and ship quickly with tight feedback loops and real-world impact
  • Own systems end-to-end, from architecture to production performance
  • Work alongside experienced operators, technical leaders, and clinicians
  • Help define how modern healthcare should be delivered

We’re a performance-driven team with a strong sense of ownership and urgency. We move fast, learn quickly, and hold a high bar for what we build, and do so with a big heart — because patients depend on it.

If you’re motivated by impact, scale, and the chance to help lead the patient revolution, come build with us.

As an Engineering Manager on the Ro Patient Experience team, you’ll be responsible for the surface areas that support millions of patients in  their treatment journey - everything from coordinating treatment plans with their provider to receiving counseling and support from their care team. You’ll own engineering execution and direction for a highly visible product area, partnering closely with Product, Design, Data, and engineering teams across Ro to turn complex and sometimes ambiguous patient needs into intuitive experiences. You’ll be a strong people leader who remains close to the work, bringing the product judgment, technical depth, and bias toward action needed to help the team make decisions and deliver. This role is well suited to someone who is comfortable creating clarity amid ambiguity, navigating a range of stakeholder perspectives, and taking ownership beyond the traditional boundaries of engineering management.

  • Set the technical and execution direction for a full-stack team that brings together capabilities and services from across Ro into a cohesive, intuitive patient experience
  • Shape the strategy and evolution of AI-enabled patient experiences across Ro, balancing rapid iteration with reliability, technical quality, and patient trust.
  • Partner closely with Product and Design to translate complex healthcare workflows and underlying systems into experiences that feel simple and useful to patients
  • Turn ambiguous patient and business problems into clear priorities and executable plans, defining a path forward even when requirements, ownership, or success metrics are still evolving
  • Work across engineering teams to connect the systems that power the patient experience, identify gaps and dependencies, and ensure the patient experience remains coherent even when the underlying capabilities have multiple owners
  • Stay close to execution — coaching and developing engineers while digging into technical decisions, product tradeoffs, patient feedback, and data when needed to unblock the team and drive critical initiatives forward
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing engineering teams, with a track record of coaching engineers, setting clear expectations, and creating an environment where teams can do their best work
  • Demonstrated ownership of meaningful consumer-facing products or experiences, with the ability to connect engineering decisions to customer and business outcomes
  • Strong product and UX instincts and a desire to build experiences that make complex underlying systems feel simple and intuitive to users
  • Technical depth and judgment that allow you to engage meaningfully in architecture and implementation decisions, challenge assumptions, and effectively support senior engineers
  • A track record of operating effectively in ambiguous, fast-moving environments and creating clarity and momentum without waiting for every dependency or decision to be resolved
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills, including experience aligning stakeholders with different perspectives and priorities
  • Experience driving work across teams and systems you don’t directly control, using influence and sound judgment to move complex initiatives forward
  • Technical fluency with React and TypeScript, along with experience working with Python or similar backend technologies.
  • A data-driven approach to product development, with experience defining success measures, using data to evaluate impact, and iterating based on what you learn.
  • Full medical, dental, and vision insurance + OneMedical membership
  • Healthcare and Dependent Care FSA
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Flexible PTO
  • Wellbeing + Learning & Growth stipends
  • Paid parental leave + Fertility benefits
  • Pet insurance
  • Student loan refinancing
  • Virtual resources for mindfulness, counseling, and fitness
  • The target base salary for this position ranges from $227,500 to $270,000, in addition to a competitive equity and benefits package (as applicable). When determining compensation, we analyze and carefully consider several factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. These considerations may cause your compensation to vary.
