This role provides technical leadership, project oversight, resource planning, and process improvement while ensuring compliance with industry standards, functional safety requirements, and regulatory codes. The Electrical Engineering Manager works closely with his team, project engineers, and the Engineering director to deliver safe, innovative, and reliable ride systems that meet project schedules, budgets, and company objectives.

The Electrical Engineering Manager is expected to maintain technical proficiency and remain actively involved in engineering activities. This role is not solely administrative; the successful candidate will dedicate a meaningful portion of their time to hands-on engineering work while leading and developing the electrical engineering team.

Essential Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of electrical engineers, controls engineers, designers, and drafters engaged in the design and development of amusement rides and devices.
  • Monitor team performance and productivity, implementing improvements through mentoring, training, standardization, software tools, and process enhancements.

Technical Leadership

  • Define and oversee the design and engineering of electrical and control systems for new ride and attraction projects.
  • Work with Project Engineers and the Engineering Director to establish technical requirements, milestones, and deliverables for projects.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards, regulations, and company engineering practices.
  • Implement standardized electrical architectures, design practices, and component selection across products to improve reliability, maintainability, and efficiency.
  • Promote and enforce the use of functional safety principles and safety-focused design methodologies throughout the engineering process.
  • Maintain compliance of the UL508A panel shop through adherence to applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Facilitate the development of complete electrical systems documentation including:
    • Functional specifications
    • Ride safety analyses and documentation
    • Input/Output (I/O) lists
    • Electrical schematics
    • Hardware design and panel layouts
    • Conduit and cable routing requirements
    • Factory acceptance test (FAT) procedures and checklists

    • Site acceptance test (SAT) procedures and checklists

Project Execution

  • Collaborate with engineering management and company leadership to ensure projects are completed on schedule and aligned with company goals.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight throughout design, manufacturing, testing, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Review and approve engineering deliverables through the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
  • Support manufacturing, installation, and field operations through technical problem-solving and design guidance.
  • Coordinate with third-party review agencies, inspectors, and certification bodies to facilitate design approval and compliance.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required to support project design reviews, factory testing, installations, commissioning activities, customer meetings, regulatory reviews, and field troubleshooting.
  • Provide on-site engineering leadership and technical support during manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning activities.
