GENERAL PURPOSE

The Project Engineer provides engineering, project management, technical compliance, and analytical support for capital projects and manufacturing operations across the company's global network of facilities. This corporate-based position supports projects from concept and feasibility through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and closeout. The role also supports technical risk and property insurance compliance and capital portfolio management through data analytics, digital tools, and artificial intelligence platforms.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Capital Project Engineering & Execution

• Support projects through concept development, feasibility, scope definition, engineering and
• design, procurement, construction, commissioning, startup, and closeout.
• Develop and support project charters, scopes, design criteria, technical requirements, equipment
• specifications, cost estimates, schedules, procurement packages, and construction scopes of
• work.
• Manage assigned engineering workstreams and independently execute smaller capital projects
• when appropriate.
• Coordinate corporate functions, manufacturing locations, engineering consultants, equipment
• suppliers, contractors, and other stakeholders; monitor compliance with approved scope, cost,
• schedule, quality, safety, and technical requirements.

Engineering Design & Technical Support

• Review engineering drawings and layouts, including equipment, site, process, utility, piping, material-handling, mechanical, and installation layouts.
• Perform field measurements, equipment assessments, and site surveys; review vendor drawings, equipment submittals, technical proposals, fabrication drawings, and supporting engineering documentation.
• Assist with technical evaluation and selection of equipment, suppliers, and engineering solutions and coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces across mechanical, civil/structural, electrical, process, controls/automation, utilities, and infrastructure.

Project Planning & Controls

• Develop and maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project, including milestones, dependencies, critical paths, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup activities.
• Track project progress, capital expenditure forecasts, costs and commitments, cash flow, schedule forecasts, risks, decisions, changes, and other project-control records.
• Support project dashboards, portfolio reports, management presentations, and executive-level status updates.

Technical Risk & Insurance Compliance

• Serve as a corporate technical resource supporting property risk, engineering risk, and insurance compliance activities across manufacturing locations.
• Coordinate technical aspects of property and operational risk assessments with sites, internal stakeholders, insurance representatives, brokers, inspectors, and third-party engineering consultants.
• Review insurance/property-risk engineering recommendations; work with overseas locations to define corrective actions, responsibilities, schedules, capital needs, and closure evidence.
• Maintain centralized tracking of open recommendations, including aging, priority, status, and closure; provide management visibility to significant technical risks and compliance status.
• Assist sites with technically appropriate responses, clarifications, modifications, or alternative solutions and identify recommendations requiring future capital investment.

Procurement Sourcing & Contractor Coordination

• Develop technical specifications and scopes of work for equipment, engineering services, and construction packages.
• Partner with Strategic Sourcing Department and participate in supplier and contractor prequalification and bid processes. Perform technical evaluations or quotations and proposals. Review vendor documentation, monitor engineering and manufacturing deliverables for critical equipment, and assist with technical-document expediting and supplier issue resolution.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agricultural, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or a related
• engineering discipline from an accredited university.
• 5-7 years of progressive engineering and/or project experience in an industrial manufacturing,
• processing, or similar operating environment.
• Demonstrated experience supporting capital projects within active manufacturing facilities and
• coordinating operations personnel, engineering consultants, contractors, and equipment
• suppliers.
• Experience with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup phases of capital projects and with analyzing technical/project data and communicating findings to management. Preferred Experience
• Experience in agri-business, flour milling, feed milling, grain handling and storage, food processing, agricultural processing, bulk material handling, or related process and industrial manufacturing environments.
• Experience with international or multi-site manufacturing organizations.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D and 3D.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Technical & Digital Skills

• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Project, including scheduling, sequencing, dependencies,
• milestones, critical-path monitoring, updating, and progress tracking.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, project controls, reporting, and data
• management; proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Teams.

Travel Requirements

• Willingness and ability to travel internationally approximately 10-20%, including visits to
• manufacturing facilities, project sites, suppliers, and other locations as required.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Work may be performed in a manufacturing or professional office environment and involves frequent contact with others as part of Seaboard’s collaborative culture. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and with sufficient mobility to perform assigned tasks. Regular use of standard office equipment, such as computers and phones, is required.
