Under general to limited supervision, manages and coordinates all field-based aspects of construction projects ranging from routine to the most complex, where one or more projects are assigned; directs daily project construction engineering functions in accordance with requirements of plans and specifications; supervises assigned professional, paraprofessional, and technical employees; performs related work as assigned.
Pay range is $36.276 to $54.415 per hour. The pay rate may be commensurate with education and/or experience within fiscal constraints if approved.

Under limited supervision of the District Construction Engineer, plan, coordinate, and supervise all activities pertaining to assigned highway construction projects.
Supervise NDOT personnel with construction inspection duties of assigned projects.
Ensure preparation and maintenance of complete and accurate records for construction projects pertaining to materials testing and usage, operations, and quality of work performed, and compliance with contract specifications, plans, and special provisions.
Responsible for preparation of all project records, reports, estimates, and final computations.
Supervise and document the measurements and computations of all final pay quantities and oversee contractor performance.
Interpret plans, contract specifications, standards, and manuals to perform daily tasks and resolve construction project issues.
Communicate effectively with businesses, property owners, local and city officials, and others involved with the construction of projects.
Responsible for hiring, training, and disciplining personnel in accordance with NDOT policies and safety practices.
Supervise equipment and facility use.
Check plans, and redesign small portions of plans to meet field conditions.
Request updated schedules as necessary.
Inform the chain of command as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
~1 min readKnowledge of all aspects of construction operations during assigned projects; modern methods and techniques of highway construction, maintenance, and materials operations; legal responsibilities and ramifications associated with work assigned. Ability to understand, interpret and implement state and federal laws and regulations, agency standards, policies and procedures; understand, interpret and evaluate engineering plans and specifications; plan, organize, assign and direct the work of assigned employees; interact professionally and courteously with assigned employees, other agency employees, local government representatives, contractors, consultants, and the public; strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills; ability to multitask and act as a role model to construction technicians. Must have strong organizational skills, be able to multitask, and have strong leadership skills.
