We are looking for a Staff Accountant who wants to take an active role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting a timely, well-controlled accounting close.

Rather than focusing on a single area of accounting, this position provides exposure across the general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, payroll, indirect taxes, audit support, and financial analysis. You’ll have ownership of assigned accounts while working closely with other members of the Finance team to investigate discrepancies and keep financial information accurate and audit-ready.

The right person for this opportunity is organized, analytical, and comfortable managing detailed accounting work while meeting recurring deadlines. You should also enjoy finding better ways to complete routine processes and be willing to take on additional responsibilities as the Finance organization evolves.

  • Prepare and record journal entries throughout the monthly financial close.

  • Take ownership of assigned balance sheet reconciliations and ensure supporting documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready.

  • Review monthly financial activity, research unexpected results, and prepare variance analysis for management.

  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules while supporting capital expenditure reporting.

  • Assist with sales tax, property tax, and other indirect tax filings.

  • Support payroll accounting through journal entries, account reconciliations, and related financial analysis.

  • Prepare schedules, supporting documentation, and work papers for financial audits and tax requirements.

  • Coordinate assigned audit requests and provide auditors with accurate and timely supporting information.

  • Assist with the administration and continued improvement of Avalara and related tax automation processes.

  • Support invoice coding, general ledger maintenance, and other recurring accounting activities.

  • Respond to accounting questions from operational leaders, internal business partners, and external vendors with a high level of service.

  • Look for opportunities to streamline accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and improve overall efficiency.

  • Participate in special projects and additional Finance initiatives as the organization grows.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

  • Progressive professional accounting experience.

  • Solid knowledge of general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, and the month-end close process.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel capabilities, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, and other data-analysis functions.

  • Experience working with Sage Intacct or another comparable ERP platform is preferred.

  • Exposure to indirect tax accounting or Avalara is beneficial.

  • CPA certification or active progress toward earning a CPA is a plus.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to research discrepancies and solve accounting problems.

  • Excellent attention to detail and the organizational skills needed to manage multiple deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities while consistently delivering accurate work on time.

  • A proactive, collaborative approach and an interest in learning and developing within a growing Finance organization.
