Purpose of the Role:

As a Test Engineering Co-op, you will support Svante’s testing team across the full testing process, from mechanical and electrical test equipment development through test execution and data analysis. You will contribute to the design, fabrication, calibration, and commissioning of test equipment while executing assigned tests and ensuring the quality, accuracy, and repeatability of test data. This hands-on role will also involve troubleshooting and maintaining test equipment, supporting the development of new testing systems, and collaborating with engineering teams to drive data-based decisions and continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Entry-level hands-on experience in a laboratory, test facility, fabrication environment, or similar technical setting.
• Basic knowledge of instrumentation, control automation, and data acquisition systems, with an interest in mechanical and electrical testing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to apply technical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment and resolve routine testing issues.
• Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to follow established procedures and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

What Success Looks Like in This Role:

• Support the design, fabrication, calibration, and commissioning of safe and fit-for-purpose mechanical and electrical test equipment.
• Execute assigned tests in accordance with established procedures and safety practices while delivering accurate, reliable, and timely test data to internal stakeholders.
• Troubleshoot test equipment issues, perform preventative maintenance and instrument calibration, and help ensure testing systems remain operational and fit for purpose.
• Maintain accurate and accessible documentation for test equipment, test procedures, results, and data while supporting the development and validation of new testing systems.
• Contribute to daily improvements by identifying opportunities to increase testing efficiency, optimize processes, reduce waste, and maintain a safe, clean, and organized fabrication shop and testing centre in alignment with Svante’s Lean culture.
