Health & Safety Officer

Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Health & Safety Officer to join our Advisory Services team.

The primary goal of the Health and Safety Officer (HSO) is to protect client employees, the client’s contractors and to safeguard the work and surrounding environment. The HSO is part of the site management team overseeing construction or remediation contractors and ensuring they operate in a safe manner. The HSO oversees daily operations and evaluates tasks and methods to ensure compliance with the site-specific health and safety plan, governmental safety regulations, environmental regulations, and industry standards.

This position reports to an EHS Director. This role is onsite at assigned clients in the greater Orlando area.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of construction worksite safety practices and procedures.
  • Identify and correct problems before they become hazards and report results to designated company representatives.
  • Apply federal and state-specific health and safety regulations.
  • Verify that workers and subcontractors are adhering to the Site Health and Safety Plan, OSHA, and all other regulations.
  • Provide daily toolbox talks about health and safety related topics.
  • Provide information in a clear, concise manner with an appropriate level of detail, empathy, and professionalism.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients and staff.
  • Ensure safety equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE) is in good working condition.
  • Ensure jobsite safety postings are updated.
  • Maintain safety and health related records and documents.

Basic requirements:

  • 1-3 years’ experience working in the health & safety field
  • Excellent communication skills, collaborative approach
  • Self-motivated
  • Detail orientation
  • Have completed two or more industry recognized trainings (OSHA 10, OSHA 30 General Industry, OSHA 10, OSHA 30 Construction Safety, 40 hr. HAZWOPR, DOT/IATA Hazardous Material Transportation
  • Willingness to work in a variety of industry, contaminated & outdoor locations
  • Possess valid driver's license and personal vehicle
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship
  • Ability to work flexible days/hours to meet the needs of the project
  • Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC). This position is considered safety sensitive.

Preferred requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, construction management, or a related scientific field
  • Prior experience as a professional advisor or consultant to third party clients.
  • Working towards meeting the requirements of and obtaining one professional designation/certification, depending upon individual interest and career goals
  • Active member in at least one national professional safety organization including local chapters
