To administratively manage one or more program/s within the School of Medicine (SOM). To independently design, develop and administer program content for the assigned program. To establish program objectives, maintain policies and procedures, serve as liaison between the program and internal/external stakeholders. To provide administrative support to faculty, staff, students and the outside community. To manage assigned program fiscal operations, develop and provide reports and/or analyses.
This position will assist with the day-to-day administrative operations for the University department's education programs under the general direction of the Program Manager, Vice Chair for Education and Program Director of Pathology Unaccredited Fellowships according to guidelines set forth by the University, Heersink School of Medicine, AAMC, ACGME, CPEP and American Board of Pathology. This position would assist with all operations related to the education programs within the department, including medical student rotations, visiting students/residents/scientists, and observerships. The position may participate in the development of program objectives and will assist with achievement of objectives within defined parameters set by the University and/or departmental policies and procedures or guidelines of the organizations referenced previously. This position requires the use of independent judgment to determine the best approach to accomplish objectives established in the program plan and specialized knowledge of graduate medical education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting supervisor with achievement of objectives set forth by Program Director and/or Vice Chair of Education to meet parameters defined by University, Department, HSOM, ACGME, UAB GMEC, CPEP and American Board of Pathology.
- Coordinating with University departments and Department of Pathology faculty supervising undergraduate pre-medical student observers, medical student visiting rotations, UAB medical student rotations in the AAMC Visiting Student Learning Opportunities program, volunteer/observerships of medical graduates, visiting scientists/post-docs in the clinical enterprise of both U.S. and International applicants and unaccredited fellowships. Includes onboarding and orientation activities.
- Assisting supervisor with achievement of objectives set forth by Program Director and/or Vice Chair of Education to meet parameters defined by University, Department, HSOM with respect to department initiatives, like Grand Rounds, or any other new educational initiatives.
- Assist with program associated duties during times of increased effort that occur during recruitment of residents/fellows, onboarding of new trainees, and evaluation of program. These activities may occur outside of typical work hours.
- Assisting with event planning for training programs, cross divisional support for Department wide events, and initiating reimbursements for trainees.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $45,395 - $73,770
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

Hard skills: UAB Application Services (Oracle, etc), Exposure to ACGME-accredited Training and other Education Programs, Microsoft Office, Project Management, Performance Management, Understanding of recruitment, HR, and immigration compliance/VISA sponsorship, Marketing, and Qualtrics
