In line with the commitment to safeguard capacity and support personnel already in the Organization, a majority of UNDP UNCDF/UNV vacancies are advertised using a tiered application process whereby:

Guided by the UNDP’s Country Programme Document for Papua New Guinea 2024-2028, the Country Office’s policy, advisory, programmatic, and implementation services focuses on the following areas:
• Peace: promoting inclusive governance, justice, and peace
• Prosperity: inclusive, greed and sustainable growth
• Planet: sustainable management of natural resources, biodiversity conservation, strengthened climate and disaster resilience and management.
In addition to these areas of focus which reflect country’s developmental priorities, UNDP emphasizes gender, climate change, social protection and inclusive growth, in all aspects of our work.
Responsibilities
~1 min readThe Communications Assistant will support the Communications Team in producing and disseminating high-quality communications materials that showcase UNDP’s work in Papua New Guinea. Under the guidance of the Communications Team, the incumbent will contribute to the following key areas:

Requirements

• Secondary (high school) education is required. Or
• A first university degree (bachelor's degree) in Arts, Communications, Journalism Studies and/o related fields, will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.
- Minimum 5 years (with high school) or 2 years (with Bachelor´s degree) of relevant experience in communications is required.
- Experience in the usage of computers and office software package (MS Word, Excel, etc.) is required.
- Experience with spreadsheet and database packages
- Experience in handling of web-based management systems
- Experience in photography is required.
- Experience in videography
- Experience in producing content for social media
- Experience in producing Tiktok content
- Demonstrated experience in graphic designing
- Experience in preparing news articles, press releases, and human-interest stories
Required Language(s)
- Fluency in English and Tok Pisin is required.
