ICAO Roster-Airport Architect

Under the direction of Director of the Capacity Development and Implementation Bureau (CDI), the Field Operations Section (FOS) is responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and closure of Technical Assistance (TA) and Technical Cooperation (TC) projects. It drafts agreements and aids in creating country-specific and regional projects and programs by identifying priority areas, developing objectives, activities, and deliverables, setting timelines, and specifying budgetary requirements. 

Additionally, under the direction of the CDI Director, the Field Personnel Section (FPS/FRU) recruits international experts to implement Capacity Development and Implementation projects across various Civil Aviation fields and manages the ICAO Roster of Experts.

Review any planned modifications to the passenger terminal building and advise on changes as required.       

Identify other necessary major modifications and space requirements to accommodate future passenger processing and operations requirements other terminal building(s).

Inspect the passenger terminal building and operations areas and advise on the feasibility of renovation or substantial alterations to the existing structure to accommodate passenger processing and operations functions.

Prepare conceptual space planning sketches indicating how the existing terminal structures might be altered or rebuilt, where required, to fulfil the necessary passenger and operations functions and provide a planning cost estimate of the required expenditure to construct the necessary alterations.

Review the master plans and preliminary designs for the terminal areas of the proposed new airports. Identify where consolidation of functions and reduced space allocation might be achieved to reduce construction costs. 

As alternatives to the original building arrangements and plans that may be proposed, prepare conceptual designs for the terminal/operations buildings that fulfil all of the operations functions at a lesser scale of construction than originally proposed where applicable.

Prepare a planning cost estimate for the construction cost of new terminal area facilities for airports.

Prepare sections of the national plan describing possible modifications and revised plans for buildings at various airports of the country, as required.

• Extensive experience at a responsible level with architectural design teams for aerodromes planning and with five years’ experience in airport master planning, including such parameters as aviation traffic forecasts, capacity studies, noise assessment and aerodrome zoning.
• Knowledge of concepts and criteria related to traffic flows and space requirements of terminal building activities and in translating aviation operational requirements into aerodrome design specifications and planning.

• A good command of oral and written English.

• A working knowledge of French or another official language of the Organization (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish).

It should be noted that this is a prospective position intended for experts interested in consultancy contracts. (short and long term).

Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.
