About United Contractor Services
United Contractor Services is a national specialty contractor and one of the Top 50 Walls and Ceilings contractors in North America. Our project teams deliver commercial interior scopes, including metal framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, EIFS, stucco, painting, and Division 8 and 10 Specialties, across multiple markets. Behind every job is a set of systems that keeps estimating, accounting, payroll, and project management moving. We're looking for a developer to make those systems work better.
The Opportunity
This is a full-time, in-office position based at our headquarters in Kennesaw, GA. You'll be the person who designs, builds, and stands behind the internal software our people use every day. That means working across the whole stack, from the screens a superintendent or accountant interacts with down to the database and the integrations underneath.
The key word is ownership. You won't be closing tickets someone else wrote. You'll sit down with the people doing the work, figure out what they really need, build it, ship it, and keep it running. When something breaks, it's yours to fix. When something could be better, it's yours to propose.
What You'll Do
- Work directly with accounting, operations, HR, IT, and project teams to learn how their work actually gets done
- Find manual, repetitive processes that a purpose-built tool or automation could eliminate
- Turn what you hear into technical designs, data models, and realistic delivery plans
- Develop internal web applications end to end: user interface, business logic, APIs, and database
- Design relational schemas and write efficient queries and stored procedures
- Create and consume REST APIs and webhooks that connect internal apps with our core platforms
- Keep code clean, testable, and maintainable, and take part in code reviews
- Handle testing, deployment, and monitoring for the applications you build
- Track down and fix bugs, slowdowns, and data integrity problems wherever they live in the stack
- Build in logging, alerts, validation, and error handling so issues get caught before users notice them
- Document architecture, data models, field definitions, and business rules so others can follow your work
- Define practices for source control, API usage, authentication, and change management
- Make sure applications meet security, access control, and audit expectations
- Research frameworks, third-party tools, and APIs that could speed up delivery
- Improve the performance, scalability, and maintainability of existing applications
- Bring ideas to leadership on your own initiative rather than waiting for direction
Systems You'll Work With
Our environment includes the following (not an exhaustive list):
- Viewpoint Vista (ERP) and Procore (project management), including their data and APIs
- ADP and Paylocity payroll and HR platforms
- Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Teams, Power Platform, and Azure
- ManageEngine ServiceDesk or Freshservice
- Internal web apps and dashboards serving both field and office teams
What You Bring
- At least 3 years of professional development experience covering both front end and back end
- Solid skills in one or more back-end languages such as C#, Python, or JavaScript/Node
- Front-end skills in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, plus experience with a modern framework like React, Angular, or Vue
- Strong SQL and relational database design ability
- Practical experience building and integrating REST/JSON APIs, including OAuth and token-based authentication
- Comfort with Git and standard development workflows
- A track record of turning business requirements into software people actually use
- Sharp troubleshooting skills and a habit of finding the root cause, not just the symptom
- The independence to own your work and the results that come from it
- Must be able to work on-site daily at our Kennesaw, GA office
Bonus Points
- Integration or reporting work with Viewpoint Vista, Procore, ADP, or Paylocity
- Development within the Microsoft ecosystem, such as Azure Functions, Power Platform, or Entra ID
- Experience with cloud hosting, CI/CD pipelines, or containers
- Power BI, SSRS, or other reporting and BI tools
- Background in construction or another project-driven industry
