The Applications Engineer will provide customers with support relating to product development, product qualification, cost down product solutions, failure analysis and processing/presentation of corrective actions. The Applications Engineer will offer our internal team members a greater level of end use understanding, allowing the voice of the customer to be heard more . The Applications Engineer will create more value for customers by acting as a development partner and a technical resource.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Works directly with customers and/or collaborates with Product Specialists/Managers and other Development Teams / Market Leaders, to understand the needs of the customer and develop product/process solutions and Critical to Quality (CTQ) attributes.
Develops and manages relationships with strategic contacts among key customers and industry contacts. Significant travel for face to face customer support / understanding required.
Participates in market and product/service strategy and roadmap creation as well as support strategy execution.
Provides engineering support to the customer to identify and resolve design issues or opportunities.
Represents the company at customer sites and trade shows, where applicable.
Communicates the customer's requirements to the company for engineering and production purposes.
Interfaces with customers and/or companyn internal quality teams on all technical quality issues and monitors corrections/improvements through to completion.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, or related technical field
5+ years' experience in customer-facing technical roles, with a strong focus on supporting sales teams and driving business growth
Proven track record of working closely with sales to identify opportunities, expand customer accounts, and achieve revenue targets
In-depth knowledge of materials manufacturing processes
Direct technical experience in PVD and CVD industry strongly preferred
Previous experience in the Semiconductor Industry preferred
Strong materials/metallurgy background
Outgoing and proactive personality with a natural ability to build rapport with customers; highly motivated to engage with clients and drive conversations forward
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both with customers and internally
Able to work cross-functionally across sales, technology, operations, and quality teams
Must be willing to travel 50–75%
Detail-oriented and self-motivated
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and all management levels
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse backgrounds both locally and globally
