Medior Backend Engineer (C# .NET)

We are looking for a Medior .NET Software Engineer to join our long-term partnership with ICA Sverige – Customer & Retail Solutions, within the Engineering Store Backoffice organization.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Sarajevo, with a planned start date in November 2026.

You will join the Store Reference Data Hub (SRDH) team, working closely with Swedish colleagues on business-critical systems supporting the daily operations of ICA stores.

The team is looking for someone who combines solid backend development experience with strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative, curious, and adaptable approach.

The Store Reference Data Hub (SRDH) is a backend and integration-heavy platform responsible for processing and distributing store-related data, including prices, assortment, and other store settings.

The platform acts as a bridge between store-facing applications and multiple downstream systems, including point-of-sale systems, electronic shelf labels, scales, waste-management solutions, and external suppliers.

The system processes large amounts of data and relies heavily on microservices, event-driven architecture, asynchronous messaging, APIs, and system integrations. Reliability and stable data flows are particularly important, as issues can directly affect store operations. 

• Developing new features and maintaining existing backend services using C# and .NET
• Working with microservices and event-driven architecture
• Developing, maintaining, and consuming REST APIs
• Working with SQL and data-intensive backend applications
• Publishing and consuming messages across distributed systems
• Working with asynchronous messaging patterns, including queues, topics, publishers, and consumers
• Maintaining integrations with internal and external systems
• Troubleshooting application, integration, and production issues
• Analyzing logs, application behavior, database data, and code to identify root causes
• Ensuring reliable data flows and implementing sustainable solutions to technical issues
• Working closely with developers, testers, the Tech Lead, Product Owner, and other ICA teams
• Contributing to technical improvements and transitions within the platform
• Working within a collaborative Scrum/Agile environment

• 3 – 6 years of professional software development experience
• Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET
• Experience working with modern .NET applications
• Strong experience with SQL
• Hands-on experience developing and consuming REST APIs
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining microservices
• Good understanding of event-driven architecture and asynchronous messaging
• Understanding of service dependencies and contracts between integrated systems
• Experience troubleshooting backend applications, integrations, and production issues
• Ability to systematically investigate technical problems and identify root causes
• Experience with Git/GitHub
• Experience working in Scrum/Agile environments
• Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with other team members
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Curious, collaborative, adaptable, and open-minded approach to development
• Fluent English communication skills

• Experience with Azure Service Bus, including Queues and Topics
• Experience with MassTransit
• Experience with Kafka or similar messaging technologies
• Experience with Microsoft Azure
• Experience with Azure Key Vault
• Experience with gRPC
