GE Vernova is looking for an Electrical Application Engineer to join our Power Quality team in Tampere, Finland.

This is an opportunity to join an experienced engineering team working on harmonic filter and reactive power compensation solutions for transmission and renewable energy applications. In this role, you will support the development of technically sound tender solutions, helping to translate customer requirements into clear engineering deliverables for customers including transmission system operators, renewable energy projects, and internal GE Vernova stakeholders.

You will work within the Inquiry to Order (ITO) phase, where customer RFQs, specifications and system data are converted into technical solutions, electrical dimensioning and tender-phase documentation.

This role would suit an electrical engineer with an interest in high-voltage or medium-voltage applications who is comfortable working with technical specifications, engineering detail and cross-functional collaboration. Direct experience in harmonic filters is not essential, and the role offers the opportunity to contribute within a knowledgeable team while building or applying expertise in a specialist area.

Responsibilities

As an Electrical Application Engineer, you will play an active role in the technical development of competitive and compliant tenders for our Power Quality business.

In this role, you will:

  • →Work with key equipment used in harmonic filter and reactive power compensation systems, including capacitors, reactors and resistors, as well as associated high-voltage equipment
  • →Use engineering tools and applications including DIgSILENT PowerFactory, AutoCAD, and other internal systems used in tendering and application engineering

Your responsibilities will include:

  • →Reviewing customer RFQs, specifications and technical data, and translating them into fit-for-purpose technical solutions, electrical dimensioning and tender-phase documentation
  • →Preparing technical tender proposals and cost estimates, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, engineering standards and internal business guidelines
  • →Coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to gather the technical information and documentation required for high-quality, timely tender submissions
  • →Contributing to technical reviews, engineering discussions and clarification activities throughout the tendering process, including customer-facing discussions where appropriate

As this is a specialist field, we welcome candidates with relevant electrical engineering experience from adjacent areas, even if they have not worked directly with harmonic filter systems before. We are interested in candidates who bring strong electrical fundamentals, sound engineering judgement and the right mindset to learn and contribute.

The ideal candidate is likely to have some combination of the following:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • A background or interest in power systems, substations, grid connections, high-voltage or medium-voltage applications
  • Exposure to substation design, primary equipment, transmission systems or industrial power applications
  • Familiarity with equipment used in high-voltage or medium-voltage environments
  • The ability to interpret technical requirements and turn them into practical engineering solutions
  • Confidence communicating with cross-functional stakeholders including sales teams, engineers, vendors and project teams
  • Experience with PowerFactory / DIgSILENT, AutoCAD, or similar engineering software would be beneficial, but is not essential.
  • Professional proficiency in English is required, and Finnish language skills are an advantage, but not required.
