About the Role
~1 min readWe're looking for a Technical Project Manager to own the project plans and schedules for our IT team. You'll manage 2–3 concurrent technical projects with teams of 20–40 engineers, bridge communication between product, engineering, business requirements, and operations, and ensure our commitments land on time, on quality, and within scope.
This is a great next step for a project manager ready to own real scope: you'll run the day-to-day of sprint ceremonies and refinement, clear blockers, and build the planning and reporting skills that lead toward Senior PM and program-level roles. You won't be doing this alone — engineering and product leads own backlog content and technical decisions, and senior team members are available to support you on the bigger tradeoff calls.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Build and maintain project plans and schedules covering scope, milestones, dependencies, and release timelines, from kickoff through delivery.
- Update plans as scope, priorities, or capacity change, and communicate the impact early.
- Maintain the 90-day rolling roadmap and support quarterly planning with engineering and product leadership.
- Forecast and allocate capacity across 20–40 engineers working on competing priorities.
- Track velocity, cycle time, and throughput, and adjust forecasts based on what teams actually deliver.
- Flag staffing or capacity gaps to leadership when demand outpaces what the team can deliver.
- Partner with engineering leads on sprint and release planning, keeping acceptance criteria and definition of done clear.
- Facilitate sprint ceremonies and refinement sessions, and identify and remove blockers daily.
- Manage scope changes through a clear change-control process.
- Align product, engineering, QA, operations, and shared services around realistic timelines and tradeoffs.
- Coordinate multi-team dependencies, including [one-line description of IRIS] frontend and backend work, infrastructure requirements, and shared services domain work.
- Work with Business Requirements Managers (BRMs) to translate clinical and business needs into delivery schedules, surfacing scope tradeoffs early.
- Partner with QA leadership on testing capacity and quality gates.
- Identify technical and organizational risks early, such as single points of failure, skill gaps, and capacity constraints.
- Maintain team health dashboards (velocity, cycle time, quality, burnout indicators).
- Deliver clear weekly and monthly status updates with confidence levels and revised timelines.
- Facilitate retrospectives and document team improvements.
- 4+ years managing technical projects in agile, scrum, or hybrid environments.
- Experience building and maintaining project plans, including milestones, dependencies, and timelines.
- Experience coordinating multiple workstreams (for example, 10+ engineers across 1–2 projects).
- Hands-on experience with a project/work-tracking tool such as Azure DevOps, Jira, or Microsoft Project.
- A track record of keeping delivery on track while keeping your team healthy and productive.
- Comfort working alongside engineers building REST APIs, modern frontends, and cloud infrastructure — you don't need to write code, but you should be able to follow a technical conversation and ask informed questions.
- Ability to review a technical spec and break it into phased, schedulable work.
- Willingness to ask questions and push back, respectfully, when an estimate doesn't add up.
- Comfort raising scope, priority, or timeline concerns directly and early.
- Clear written communication for status updates and planning documents.
- Ability to translate between engineers, business stakeholders, and leadership.
Nice to Have
~2 min read- CAPM, CSM, or similar project-management certification (we'll support PMP/SAFe pursuit once you're in the role).
- Experience with healthcare software, HIPAA, or another regulated environment.
- Exposure to platform migrations or technical-debt paydown projects.
- Familiarity with forecasting methods such as burndown analysis.
- Exposure to infrastructure or DevOps projects alongside product development.
