The Opportunity
If you've spent time on commercial projects, whether on the GC side or with a specialty subcontractor, and you want a clear path to running your own jobs, this role was built for you. United Contractor Services is hiring an On-site Assistant Project Manager to work alongside a seasoned Project Manager on a large, active commercial interior project. Our scope covers metal framing and drywall, acoustical ceilings, EIFS and stucco, painting, and Division 8 and Division 10 specialties. You'll be based at the jobsite, handling the documentation, coordination, and follow-up that keep a project moving. Along the way you'll learn how a specialty subcontractor manages the work from start to closeout.
Your Responsibilities
You'll spend most of your time on site as your Project Manager's eyes and ears in the field. You'll make sure what's happening on the ground matches what's on paper. Day to day, you'll be:
- Coordinating between your Project Manager, our field supervision, general contractor teams, and material suppliers
- Helping build and maintain project schedules, plan crew needs, and line up material deliveries to protect both the timeline and the budget
- Processing submittals, RFIs, and change orders, tracking daily reports, and keeping project documentation organized and up to date
- Partnering with field leaders on quality and workmanship, and carrying punch lists through to closeout
- Tracking installed quantities against job costs and flagging concerns to your PM before they become problems
- Solving problems in real time, such as a delayed shipment, a conflict with another trade, or a decision stuck waiting on approval
What You Bring
- 1+ years of commercial construction experience in project coordination, project administration, or a similar support role. GC experience translates directly.
- A degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline. Relevant field or office experience is considered in place of a degree.
- Comfort reading construction drawings and specs, or the motivation to learn quickly
- Solid working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or comparable construction software is a bonus

You'll be dedicated to one large, multi-phase project, which means keeping several phases moving at once while priorities shift as the job progresses.
