Lead Engineer - Electrical Design

The Lead Engineer in Electrical Design is responsible for leading and developing the EDES team, providing both technical and people leadership to ensure the effective delivery of complex electrical systems and engineering projects.

The role is responsible for setting direction and priorities for the team, allocating work effectively and ensuring the right balance of in-house capability and external supplier resource is in place to meet business and project requirements. This includes working closely with the Chief Designer to assess incoming work, determine the most effective use of internal resources and identify opportunities to outsource defined packages of work to external contractors and suppliers.

They will promote a positive, collaborative and high-performing team environment, supporting the development, engagement and performance of team members, while maintaining effective relationships with external engineering partners.

Alongside their leadership responsibilities, the role will undertake their own electrical design activities and lead technical activities from concept through to completion, ensuring solutions meet customer, safety and quality requirements.

The role will work closely with the Chief Designer and Technical Director to support effective project delivery, develop engineering capability and continuously improve the team's ways of working. The role will also involve worldwide travel to support the build, testing, commissioning and servicing of simulators.
