Your Role with Us

As Head of Investments, you will provide strategic leadership for AIA New Zealand’s investment function, shaping investment outcomes that support enterprise performance and long-term business success.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer and contributing as a member of the Enterprise Leadership Team, you will partner closely with leaders across the organisation to guide investment strategy, capital oversight, governance, and risk management. This is an influential role where your expertise will help drive informed decision-making, optimise portfolio performance, and strengthen organisational resilience, while leading a high-performing team and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth.

  • Lead the development and execution of investment strategies that align with organisational priorities and deliver sustainable long-term value.
  • Optimise portfolio performance through effective asset allocation, investment analysis, and proactive management of risk and return outcomes.
  • Provide strategic insights and recommendations that support high-quality business, financial, and capital management decisions.
  • Strengthen investment governance by overseeing portfolio management activities, third-party providers, and compliance with regulatory and Group frameworks.
  • Guide actuarial analysis, forecasting, and valuation activity to deliver accurate reporting and meaningful insights for stakeholders.
  • Build trusted relationships across executive, Board, and committee forums to drive transparency, accountability, and strategic alignment.

  • You bring extensive leadership experience in investments, actuarial, quantitative, or financial services environments, with the ability to operate confidently at executive level.
  • You have deep expertise in investment management, financial markets, asset allocation, and performance oversight, with a focus on delivering strong business outcomes.
  • You have a strong track record of leading governance, regulatory, solvency, and risk management activities within complex organisations.
  • You bring exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, enabling effective collaboration across leadership teams, Boards, and external partners.
  • You have experience developing high-performing teams through coaching, feedback, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • You may also have an actuarial qualification or experience with participating funds, actuarial valuation, and investment product governance.

At AIA, leadership is about more than guiding teams, it’s about shaping a future where people and communities thrive. In return for your vision and impact, we offer an environment where you can lead with purpose, supported by a culture that values courage, clarity, and humanity. You’ll have access to strategic opportunities, leadership development programs, and the flexibility to balance work and life while driving performance at scale. Here, your decisions will help us achieve our ambition of engaging a billion people to live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives by 2030, while inspiring your teams to do their best work every day.
