As a Roadway Engineering Designer, you'll take a lead role in the development and delivery of complex transportation infrastructure projects, providing advanced technical expertise in roadway, multimodal, intersection, and corridor design. Working closely with project engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams, you'll apply sound engineering judgment to develop innovative, cost-effective, and constructible design solutions that meet client objectives, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

You will be responsible for coordinating design efforts, performing and reviewing detailed engineering calculations, preparing high-quality construction documents, and resolving complex design challenges throughout the project lifecycle. In addition, you'll mentor and support junior designers, contribute to quality assurance and quality control initiatives, and help drive project success through effective collaboration, technical leadership, and a commitment to delivering safe, sustainable, and resilient transportation systems for the communities they serve.

  • →Lead the preparation and development of detailed roadway, multimodal, and intersection design plans, technical specifications, engineer’s estimates, and construction documents, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project objectives, client requirements, and applicable design standards.
  • →Perform advanced engineering analyses and design calculations related to horizontal and vertical alignments, roadway geometrics, grading, cross sections, sight distance, and multimodal facilities while ensuring adherence to TxDOT, AASHTO, MUTCD, and local agency criteria.
  • →Coordinate and integrate design activities across multidisciplinary teams, including drainage, traffic, structures, utilities, and environmental groups, while providing technical leadership, mentorship, and day-to-day guidance to junior designers and engineering staff.
  • →Support project engineers and project managers with project planning, resource coordination, schedule management, quality assurance/quality control reviews, and the timely delivery of design milestones and client submittals.
  • →Utilize advanced CAD and transportation design software to develop and review complex design models, identify and resolve technical challenges, respond to review comments, and contribute to the delivery of innovative, cost-effective, and sustainable transportation solutions throughout all phases of project development.
