The Safety and Security Officer reports directly to the Supervisor of Safety and Security. This position is responsible for customer service, service recovery, security screening, weapon detection, and video surveillance systems monitoring. This position is also responsible for maintaining standards in accordance with all regulatory agencies. The Safety Security Officer will monitor for any safety issues while on foot patrol, responding to alarms, and assisting visitors and patients with guidance and requests. This position may assist Safety and Security Ambassadors' assignments as needed or assigned. Assignments may vary with increased security concerns within the UAMS system.

Responsibilities

→Support safe entry: Conduct safety screenings at the Emergency Department metal detector and weapon detection systems at UAMS entrances while helping maintain an efficient flow of patients, visitors, and staff.
→Maintain a visible security presence: Patrol buildings on foot and conduct property checks in secure and high-risk areas to help create a safer campus environment.
→Monitor and report concerns: Assist with monitoring security cameras and promptly report suspicious activity or safety concerns to the UAMS Police Department.
→Provide assistance and escorts: Cover the main hospital Information Desk during evening hours, escort employees and campus members upon request, and accompany patients from the Outpatient Clinics holding area to their appointments.
→Respond to facility needs: Respond to alarms and unlock buildings and offices as requested.
→Work collaboratively: Rotate assignments throughout each shift and assist Safety and Security Ambassadors as needed.
→Build versatile skills: Complete cross-training to work in all assigned positions.
→Perform other duties as assigned.
