We are seeking an experienced Citrix Architect to provide technical leadership and drive the design, optimization, and evolution of enterprise virtualization environments. In this role, you will oversee end-to-end Citrix architecture across on-premises, cloud, hybrid, and multi-site disaster recovery infrastructures. You will serve as the highest-level technical escalation point for complex incidents while leading major upgrades, migrations, and strategic technology deployments. Working closely with infrastructure, security, engineering, and operations teams, you will ensure platform reliability, scalability, performance, and security. You will also drive automation and AI-assisted analysis to improve troubleshooting, configuration management, and operational efficiency. Beyond technical delivery, you will mentor engineering teams, establish diagnostic methodologies, and promote knowledge sharing across the organization. This is an opportunity to shape enterprise infrastructure strategy and deliver resilient, innovative end-user computing solutions within a technology-driven healthcare environment.
Citrix Architecture and Design: Design, document, and maintain comprehensive Citrix virtualization architectures covering Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD), Citrix DaaS, hybrid environments, multi-site deployments, and disaster recovery configurations. Develop high-level and low-level designs, reference architectures, technical standards, and implementation guides.
Infrastructure Capacity and Scalability: Define capacity planning, infrastructure sizing, scalability, and high-availability strategies for Delivery Controllers, StoreFront, NetScaler/ADC, Cloud Connectors, and Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) workloads. Ensure architecture decisions support performance, resilience, and business continuity.
Secure Remote Access: Design and maintain secure remote access solutions using NetScaler Gateway/ADC, incorporating authentication technologies such as SAML, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and Microsoft Entra ID, while aligning with Zero Trust security principles.
Advanced Technical Troubleshooting: Act as the Tier 3 and final technical escalation point for complex, high-severity Citrix incidents. Lead root cause analysis for issues involving slow logons, session launch failures, black screens, session reliability, HDX and graphics performance, VDA registration, and profile management.
Diagnostic Tools and Vendor Coordination: Use advanced troubleshooting tools such as CDF Control, Citrix Director, WEM Analytics, Wireshark, Process Monitor (ProcMon), Windows Event Logs, and Citrix Scout. Collaborate with Citrix Support and other technology vendors, including Microsoft, hypervisor, storage, and networking providers, to resolve critical issues.
Upgrade and Migration Leadership: Lead end-to-end CVAD upgrade projects, including Long Term Service Release (LTSR) and Current Release (CR) upgrades. Manage assessments, prerequisites, testing strategies, pilot deployments, production cutovers, and rollback planning. Oversee Citrix DaaS migrations, onboarding, and hybrid-to-cloud transitions.
Platform Component Management: Plan and coordinate upgrades across StoreFront, NetScaler/ADC, Licensing Server, Director, WEM, Provisioning Services (PVS), Machine Creation Services (MCS), VDA components, and master images.
Project Delivery and Change Management: Develop project plans, timelines, risk registers, and communication strategies. Coordinate with project managers and infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure successful implementation with minimal downtime. Maintain compliance with change management procedures, including CAB approvals, change records, and post-implementation reviews.
Profile Management Strategy: Evaluate and define the organization's strategy for Citrix Profile Management (UPM) versus Microsoft FSLogix, considering logon performance, scalability, storage consumption, resilience, and compatibility with Microsoft Office, OneDrive, and Teams.
Profile Architecture and Migration: Design profile storage architectures using SMB, NetApp, and Azure Files, including Cloud Cache, VHD(X) locations, folder redirection, and exclusions. Lead profile migration projects, pilot testing, performance tuning, and user acceptance testing. Establish best practices for profile sizing, antivirus exclusions, and monitoring.
Proof of Concepts and Innovation: Lead proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives and pilot deployments for emerging technologies, including Citrix DaaS, WEM, App Layering, Citrix Analytics, cloud-hosted VDAs, GPU/HDX 3D Pro, Windows 11 multi-session, and Citrix Secure Private Access.
Solution Evaluation and Deployment: Define measurable POC objectives, test cases, success criteria, and expected outcomes. Present recommendations supported by technical, financial, and risk assessments. Lead approved solutions through design, development, testing, production deployment, and operational handover. Evaluate alternative platforms such as Azure Virtual Desktop and VMware Horizon when appropriate.
Operations and Performance Optimization: Continuously improve logon times, session performance, user experience, and infrastructure resource utilization. Conduct regular platform health checks, review patching strategies, plan technology lifecycle upgrades, and manage end-of-life (EOL) risks.
Automation and Infrastructure as Code: Develop and implement automation solutions using PowerShell, REST APIs, Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines. Improve image management, configuration deployment, platform upgrades, and operational health checks through repeatable automation workflows.
Monitoring and Application Delivery: Define monitoring and alerting strategies using tools such as Citrix Director, ControlUp, Splunk, SCOM, and Azure Monitor. Maintain golden image standards and application delivery and packaging strategies involving MSIX, App-V, and App Layering.
Security, Governance, and Compliance: Establish and enforce Citrix security baselines, infrastructure hardening standards, and certificate management practices. Support audits, vulnerability remediation, NetScaler/ADC patching, and compliance with Citrix security advisories. Maintain architecture documentation and disaster recovery/business continuity plans, including regular failover testing.
Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Citrix engineers, systems engineers, and support teams. Act as the primary technical liaison with Citrix, Microsoft, and other technology vendors. Communicate technical concepts and recommendations effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Diagnostic Methodology Development: Design and continuously improve structured troubleshooting playbooks that enable engineers to investigate and resolve logon performance issues systematically. Develop training materials, recorded sessions, runbooks, and diagnostic guides covering LogicMonitor, Citrix Director, Power BI dashboards, Azure Log Analytics, Wireshark, Citrix policies, and Group Policy auditing.
Knowledge Management and Continuous Learning: Build and maintain a library of documented customer investigation findings and lessons learned that can be applied across different environments. Conduct knowledge-transfer sessions, review engineering diagnostic approaches, and strengthen the technical capabilities of the wider team.
AI-assisted Analysis and Automation: Lead the use of AI tools for large-scale analysis of Citrix configuration exports, Group Policy data, ServiceNow knowledge articles, and public technical documentation. Develop or guide PowerShell and Python scripts to automate Group Policy auditing, data extraction, and cross-environment comparisons.
