EngineeringEngineering Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for building and operating large-scale systems that map and monitor the Internet. As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee the development of advanced data collection, network scanning, and distributed systems capabilities that power critical cybersecurity intelligence products. You will combine people leadership, technical strategy, and operational ownership to improve data coverage, accuracy, freshness, reliability, and efficiency. Working closely with Product, Research, Infrastructure, Security, and Engineering teams, you will translate complex technical challenges into actionable roadmaps and measurable outcomes. You will guide architectural decisions, develop engineering talent, and ensure that critical systems operate reliably at scale. This role is ideal for an experienced technical leader who enjoys solving complex problems, building high-performing teams, and contributing to technology that helps organizations better understand and manage their digital exposure.

  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of Scanner Engineers and Distributed Systems Engineers, establishing clear expectations around ownership, collaboration, technical quality, and delivery.
  • Provide regular feedback, create professional development plans, delegate meaningful responsibilities, and support engineers in expanding their technical expertise and leadership capabilities.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing, accountable engineering team by identifying staffing requirements, supporting recruitment, improving onboarding, and managing performance.
  • Roadmap and Program Delivery: Define and own the data collection engineering roadmap in collaboration with Product, Research, Infrastructure, and other technical stakeholders.
  • Translate organizational and customer priorities into measurable engineering objectives focused on improving data coverage, freshness, accuracy, reliability, scalability, and infrastructure efficiency.
  • Lead complex engineering initiatives from initial discovery and planning through implementation and production deployment, managing timelines, dependencies, resources, and delivery risks.
  • Coordinate multiple priorities while ensuring that teams remain focused on high-impact projects and that technical trade-offs are clearly communicated.
  • Transform research and experimental initiatives into reliable, maintainable, production-ready capabilities whenever appropriate.
  • Technical and Operational Leadership: Guide architecture and technical decisions across Internet scanning, scan orchestration, protocol implementations, distributed services, data ingestion pipelines, APIs, and operational tooling.
  • Establish and maintain engineering standards for system design, testing, deployment safety, observability, service ownership, and operational readiness.
  • Take ownership of the quality, availability, maintainability, scalability, and cost efficiency of the team's systems.
  • Define and monitor key operational metrics, including scan execution, pipeline health, data freshness, protocol coverage, failure rates, and infrastructure resource consumption.
  • Improve monitoring, incident response, on-call procedures, and service reliability, ensuring that incidents lead to meaningful corrective actions and long-term improvements.
  • Identify architectural bottlenecks and technical debt, assess their business and operational impact, and prioritize improvements accordingly.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align engineering investments with customer needs, product strategy, research priorities, and broader business objectives.
