Product Engineer, Mobile & UX

Product & Engineering | Toronto or Waterloo, hybrid | 3 to 5 years of experience | Reports to the COO

Pontosense builds radar sensing technology that helps older adults live safer, longer and better in their own homes. Our technology is deployed in 24 countries. Silvie, our consumer product, is bringing this technology directly to families, alongside leading home care brands and telecom partners.

The Silvie app is how families set up their sensors, stay connected with loved ones, and know that help is there when it matters. We are building an experience that makes sophisticated technology feel effortless.

We're looking for a Product Engineer who loves building great software, cares about how people experience it, and is excited to push the boundaries of what's possible with AI. You'll work directly with our Senior Product Manager and engineering team to bring that experience to life.

This is more than a traditional mobile development role. You'll build iOS and Android applications, contribute to UX and UI decisions, and help turn complex technology into simple, intuitive experiences. You'll have room to experiment, challenge assumptions and bring your own ideas to the table. AI tools are a natural part of how you work, not an occasional shortcut.

This is a building role. We care about what you create, not just the code you write.

• →Build and improve iOS and Android applications using React Native and TypeScript.
• →Work closely with our Senior Product Manager to turn product ideas into intuitive, polished mobile experiences.
• →Contribute to UX and UI discussions, interactions and usability improvements.
• →Prototype, develop, test and ship features with speed and quality.
• →Use AI tools like ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code and Cursor to build smarter and faster.
• →Continuously improve app performance, reliability and user experience.

• Two users, different needs: build experiences that reassure families while respecting older adults' independence and privacy.
• Hardware meets software: bring together radar sensing, connected devices and mobile experiences.
• Complex technology, simple UX: make sophisticated technology feel intuitive to everyday users.
• Real-world consequences: build reliable experiences that families can trust when it matters most.

• React Native and TypeScript: Roughly 3 to 5 years of software development experience, including production React Native apps shipped to the App Store or Google Play.
• Mobile development fundamentals: A solid grasp of building and releasing iOS and Android apps, including navigation, state management and API integration.
• UX and UI skills: A strong eye for design, with the ability to build polished, responsive and accessible interfaces, work from Figma designs and contribute ideas to how the product looks, feels and works.

• Device connectivity: Bluetooth Low Energy, IoT or connected-device onboarding and pairing flows.
• Native and cross-platform depth: Native module integration (Swift or Kotlin), or Flutter as a second cross-platform framework.
• Quality and delivery: Automated testing, CI/CD and release tooling, and crash and performance monitoring.
• Design and product depth: Figma and design-system experience, or building AI-powered features into a consumer app.
• Domain: HealthTech, eldercare, smart-home or other consumer products.

• You love AI tools and are constantly experimenting with new ways to build faster and better.
• You enjoy turning ideas into working prototypes and real products.
• You're curious, proactive and comfortable challenging ideas constructively.
• You care about solving real user problems, not just completing tickets.
