System Safety Engineer

The Department of War's Research and Engineering (R&E) organization serves as the Department's Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and is charged with ensuring the technological superiority of the United States military.  Located at the Mark Center in Alexandria, the team works with Pentagon stakeholders and service PEOs.  American Systems is seeking a safety-experienced engineering professional to drive safety policy implementation and reviews within R&E. 

As the Systems Safety Engineer, you'll be responsible for the following:

• →You'll be providing technical expertise working with DoW as a System Safety Engineer while applying MIL-STD-882E requirements and tasks to product lifecycle activities.
• →Review program documents and provide input to DoW policy and guidance on System Safety and related Specialty Engineering field.
• →Provide experience in demonstrable combination of on-the-Job and coursework related to System Safety Engineering.
• →You'll be providing technical expertise in software safety engineering, fuze safety, munitions and energetics safety or test range safety.
• →Lead and participate in Community of Practice and Working Groups meetings with services, civilian agencies, FFRDCs, Industry and Academia on system safety.

• BS in Engineering plus minimum of 10 years of engineering experience including System Safety Engineering.
• MS preferred.
• Experience supporting OUSW.
• Must have a current and active Secret Clearance, TS preferred.
• U.S. Citizenship Required for the purposes of obtaining/holding a U.S. security clearance.

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
