Director, Sales Operations

Worldwide Commercial Operations

ADP Worldwide Commercial Operations is hiring a Director of Sales Operations to lead complex, high-impact initiatives that drive business outcomes across the enterprise. Are you ready to make your mark?

At ADP, we believe great people make great companies. We’re looking for someone who is curious, collaborative, adaptable, and passionate about understanding how the business works and translating business challenges into meaningful solutions.

This role is ideal for a strategic operator who can move seamlessly between strategy and execution, bring clarity to ambiguity, and connect work across teams and priorities. You’ll partner closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to translate business priorities into actionable plans, establish the right structure and governance, influence decisions, and drive initiatives from concept through execution and measurable results.

Success in this role requires more than strong program management. You’ll need to understand the business, ask the right questions, challenge assumptions when appropriate, and bring forward recommendations that help the organization make better decisions and move work forward.

  • Lead complex, enterprise-wide initiatives from strategy through execution, bringing structure, clarity and momentum to work that spans multiple functions and business units.
  • Translate business priorities into actionable plans, defining objectives, scope, outcomes, governance, milestones, dependencies, resources, and measures of success.
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leaders, providing recommendations, surfacing risks and tradeoffs, and helping drive the decisions required to move initiatives forward.
  • Solve complex business problems, looking beyond the immediate request to understand the underlying challenge and determine the right approach.
  • Build alignment across highly matrixed teams, partnering across Sales, Marketing, Finance, Service, Technology, Product and other functions to achieve shared business outcomes.
  • Create clarity in ambiguity, quickly establishing the structure, ownership and path forward when priorities, requirements or solutions are not yet fully defined.
  • Drive accountability and execution across project teams, ensuring commitments, key milestones and deliverables remain on track.
  • Maintain a portfolio-level perspective across initiatives, identifying dependencies, resource constraints, competing priorities, and opportunities to accelerate or simplify the work.
  • Anticipate and manage risks and issues, proactively identify potential barriers, and bring forward recommendations and options to resolve them.
  • Develop clear, concise executive communications that translate complex work into the information leaders need to understand progress, make decisions and take action.
  • Establish effective governance, including leadership forums, steering committees, decision-making processes, and escalation paths appropriate to the initiative.
  • Partner with sponsors and key stakeholders to establish clear expectations, roles, decision rights and measures of success.
  • Lead and influence cross-functional project teams in a matrixed environment, creating alignment and accountability without relying on direct authority.
  • Manage program resources and budgets, including resource planning, funding requirements and coordination with internal and external partners as appropriate.
  • Continuously improve how we work, applying consistent program management disciplines, tools and best practices while adapting the approach to the needs of the business.
  • Ensure initiatives deliver results, maintaining accountability for execution, quality, stakeholder experience and the intended business outcomes.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in Sales Operations, Business Operations, Program Management, Strategy, or a similar discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience leading complex, enterprise-level, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple teams, senior stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with senior and executive-level leaders to drive strategic initiatives and business decisions.

You connect the work to the bigger picture. You understand business priorities and can translate strategy into clear actions, decisions and outcomes.

You are comfortable operating in ambiguity. You ask the right questions, challenge assumptions, and focus on solving the underlying problem rather than simply addressing the symptoms.

You build credibility quickly and create alignment across stakeholders, even when you don’t have direct authority. You know when to listen, when to challenge, and when to drive toward a decision.

You can take something complicated and make it simple. You communicate recommendations, progress, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions clearly and confidently at all levels of the organization.

You turn ideas into action. You create structure, establish accountability, connect dependencies, and build practical plans that move complex work forward.

You bring people together around shared outcomes. You build strong partnerships across functions while maintaining accountability for commitments and results.

You are comfortable with changing priorities and evolving business needs. You can adjust the approach without losing sight of the outcome.

You remain focused and solutions-oriented when navigating challenges, setbacks, or high-pressure situations.

You seek to understand how the business works, continuously learn, ask thoughtful questions, and use those insights to improve the work.

A college degree is nice to have but not required. What’s most important is having the experience, capabilities and judgment to do the job successfully.

You should have:

  • Demonstrated success leading programs and initiatives with significant complexity, multiple dependencies and enterprise-wide impact.
  • Strong knowledge of program management disciplines, including scope, schedule, resource, risk, issue, quality, communication, stakeholder, and financial management.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate loosely defined business challenges into structured plans and solutions.
  • Proven experience operating in a highly matrixed environment and building effective relationships across functions, business units and levels of leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to respectfully challenge assumptions, bring forward an independent point of view, and influence decisions through business context, data and sound judgment.
  • Experience navigating complex stakeholder environments, competing priorities and high-visibility initiatives while maintaining strong relationships and forward momentum.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives involving multiple teams, senior stakeholders and competing priorities across the enterprise.
  • Strong executive presence with demonstrated ability to communicate recommendations, decisions, risks and complex concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent facilitation skills with the ability to drive productive conversations, establish alignment, and move groups toward decisions.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives without losing sight of broader business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively identify risks, dependencies and barriers and develop mitigation strategies to protect business outcomes.
  • Experience developing and managing project plans, governance structures, executive reporting and portfolio-level visibility using Smartsheet or comparable tools.
  • Strong understanding of business operations and the ability to quickly learn new functional areas, products, and organizational dynamics.
  • Experience working in or supporting an ADP business unit is a plus.

In this role, success isn’t defined simply by whether a project is delivered on time.

You will be successful when you can step into a complex business challenge, quickly understand what matters, create clarity around the path forward, align the right stakeholders, and drive the work through execution while keeping it connected to the intended business outcome.

You’ll help the organization move faster and make better decisions by bringing together strategy, structure, collaboration, and disciplined execution.
