THE ROLE 

Fishers Event Center has an excellent and immediate opening for a part-time Cook. This position is responsible for preparing food items for all suite orders, catering functions and concession items. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Prepare recipes as directed; measure ingredients and prepare them in accordance with Chef’s specifications. 

  • Wash and peel ingredients in order for them to be used in different meals. 

  • Cut and portion different types of meat according to specifications. 

  • Prepare different types of food, carefully following the recipes. 

  • Accept or reject ingredients from food suppliers based on their appearance and quality. 

  • Keep track of ingredient quantities and ensure there are always enough for the day/week/event. 

  • Store ingredients in dedicated containers, making sure that they are best preserved. 

  • Clean and sanitize the working surfaces, tools, utensils and working area 

  • Carefully direct the food temperature and the temperature from cooling rooms to ensure that the ingredients kept are kept at the appropriate temperature. 

  • Must take direction well. 

  • Maintain safe working conditions and sanitary work area. 

  • Follow the rules and regulations of SAVOR and ASM Global. 

  • Regular attendance is an essential job function. 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications  

  • Must have attention to detail 

  • Must be able to adapt to change in the work environment, managing, competing demands, frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events. 

  • Must be compliant with health codes. 

  • Requires ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Education and/or Experience           

  • High school diploma or GED preferred. 

  • One-year certificate from culinary school or comparable experience. 

  • Servsafe certified (recommended not required) 

 

Skills and Abilities   

  • Ability to read and interpret recipes and prep list. 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 

  • Basic knife skills
