ASRC Federal Field Services, a Subsidiary of ASRC Federal Holding Company, is currently seeking a Cook I at the Plum Island Animal Disease Research Center, located on Plum Island, NY. (1.5 nautical miles off North Fork of Long Island & 6 nautical miles off coast of Old Saybrook, CT).  Marine transportation furnished by Government provided ferry   Requirements: Provide support to cafeteria operations at a research facility. Work as team member and/or independently in a cafeteria kitchen. Responsible for the operation of a small cafeteria. Plan and direct the overall kitchen operations including purchasing, inventory control, and food production and planning menus. Perform tasks concerned with preparation and serving of food and beverages. Set up food counter. Prepare hot and cold meals, salads, soups, and desserts for cafeteria and take out use. Prepare take out lunches for laboratory personnel and others unable to go to the cafeteria. Wash, peel, scrape and cut fruit and vegetables. Prepare and cook meats, fish, poultry, gravies, cereals, soups, vegetable, and other foods. Cook food according to proper preparation methods in a cafeteria/institution. Ensure handling of food and equipment is in compliance with Servsafe guidelines and protocol. Maintain cleanliness of cafeteria and equipment. Experience in cafeteria operations, menu planning, inventory maintenance, and as a short order cook. Excellent communication and organizational skills.   Basic Qualifications: Servsafe Certified. HS Diploma or GED, 4 years’ experience in the field or in a related area. Physical Requirements: Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your whole body. Utilization of appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment) such as safety shoes, hard hats, hearing, and eye protection is required. Ability to climb ladders, reach overhead and lift to 50lbs. Industrial work environment that may include loud noise, heat stress, work indoors and outdoors.
