You will be an important part of our Fixed Dome Firmware team, where you will develop, deliver, and maintain the software for a large range of Axis core products. Here, you'll collaborate with different functions within Axis — from all parts of the embedded Linux stack to teams working with image quality, mechanical design, electronics, production test, and more.

As a firmware engineer, you take ownership of the projects you work on and share responsibility for ensuring all projects in our department move forward and meet their targets. Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a firmware engineer in our team, you play a key role in bringing the next generation of Axis products to life — your work directly powers the devices that help create a smarter, safer world.
- →Join product development projects, developing network-connected devices
- →Configure and adapt AXIS OS, our own Linux-based operating system, for our next generation of products
- →Analyse, design, and develop software features for upcoming products
- →Find solutions to complex problems in a large code base — from Linux kernel drivers to applications
- →Optimise embedded system performance
- →Contribute to continuously improving the way we work as a team
- →Collaborate closely with your colleagues, sharing knowledge and offering support
We are looking for a collaborative and curious team player who thrives on challenges and loves to learn. You are comfortable working in a changing environment and have a genuine passion for technology. You enjoy solving problems together with your colleagues, which means strong communication skills are important.

- 5+ years of experience in firmware or embedded software development
- Solid knowledge of Linux system programming — user space, kernel space, and device drivers
- Experience with C and/or C++ programming
- Familiarity with continuous integration, version control using Git, and build tools
- Experience working with agile methodologies
- An engineering bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, physics, mathematics, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
- Familiar working with AI-powered development tools
Nice to Have

- Familiarity with scripting languages — shell, Python, or Perl
- Working knowledge of low-level programming, e.g., using Micro Controllers (MCU)
- Experience leading agile teams
